Re: Well Done Canoe Wales!

Chalky 723 If you have only paid to park then you claim you have been trespassing as the point is if you get on the water you have to pay £15 it doors not matter if you do not use the shuttle our any other facilities they expect you to pay as soon as you get on the water.if you could paddle only pay...

Re: Well Done Canoe Wales!

Mike,

be as rude as you like I have thick skin but it is you and Canoe Wales who are misleading people, and you do not seem to want to listen. If as a paddler I see this as a charge so will everyone else and I can see why the fisheries think they can charge too.

Re: Well Done Canoe Wales!

Chalky723

Only paid to park at £15 per person ?

And Mike Veal ,yes this again, when only people who pass down the river are charged, it is a charge for paddling the river no matter what you want to call it. So until they stop and charge for parking etc. It is totally relevant

Re: Access Motion to BC AGM

Yes I am talking about the tryweryn, and if they charged for facilities as they claim it would not bother me but the only people chargesd are those who pass down river so to me it is a charge to pass down the river. This is not acceptable and B.C. said this was not initially, they now seen to have c...

Re: Access Motion to BC AGM

The point is not whether they can do anything but the fact they will not condemn CW for charging. If they go to ask the government for free passage why should they listen when they support paid passage elsewhere. Until all governing bodies are aligned there is no point wasting money chasing rainbows...

And the government can change their mind too, just ignoring the problem is not the answer they need to at least condemn not promote restricted passage just because it is canoe Wales and creating income, this is double standards

Re: Access Motion to BC AGM

I went to the North East Roadshow and David Joy did not even turn up. They have stated that they will not engage with Canoe Wales other than to change the wording on charges for the Tryweryn. No matter what you call it when only people passing down the river are charged it is a charge for passage. W...

Re: Access and facility charging at Canolfan Tryweryn

To me the question is not how much our whether they can charge but why they charge padflers and not walkers. CW are the governing body set up to help padflers yet it forces then to pay for facilities used by many others who it does not charge,. They say the charge is not for access but you can walk ...

Re: Access and facility charging at Canolfan Tryweryn

Pam, I totally agree with you, unless all people are charged how can they say you can walk along for free and run the river for free but if you do both its not free. This is totally against the WCA access promise and I do not see how they can defend this by charging only paddlers. A parking charge w...

Re: A bit of career advice?

The qualifications you have stated will only alloww him to coach on flat sheltered water you need at least level 2 for moving water, with MWE. I'm no expert on for outdoor education but within B.C. qualifications this will not allow you to do much other than work at at the likes of PGL. It's a good ...

My answer would have been Kogg but I guess that's why they went out of business. I have a kogg dry top still with original seals, shows they can make them to last but don't.

Re: Inflatable kayak - puncture repair in seam???

Agree with aquasure, but try to ensure aquasure not storm sure as it does not work as well, put plenty on and do not worry about looking neat, you cannot do a neat repair, if you want it to look neat you will have to glue a patch on top of the repair but this is only for cosmetic reasons

I agree to stay away from palm, do you want a dry cag or semidry as you are looking at both, if dry I would second the maverick and spend the extra if possible, the fabric is much more durable.

Re: 2 star - why canoe and kayak

The only change is to the assessment, you still have to do three star in both craft, the training in both craft, then you can choose at assessment. The only bit you missed is one hour paddling. Also if you do a single discipline assessment you cannot assess two star so the qualification is pretty use...

Re: Bouncing boat

Sounds like your bars are too close together, if these cant be moved you will need to tie the front and back down to the towing hooks on the car . If this pulls the boat down so it hits the roof anyway then you will need foam spacers on your roof bars. Or buy some uprights so it sits on its side. Ch...

Re: 2 star - why canoe and kayak

Franky, I think you are missing the point. 3-4 hours WOW I don't know anyone who gets 2 star in that time but even if you can the fact that 2 star is in both craft means the coach has to do both craft so, 3 star in a canoe at least 3 days, level 1, 3 days training and assessment level 2 the same plu...

Re: 2 star - why canoe and kayak

Twicezero, Although they claim to have split level 2, the only difference is in the assessment. You have to do all the training in both craft so the only thing you miss is giving 1 half hour session in a canoe, this does mean then that you have to give 2 sessions in a kayak. Therefore this takes the ...

Most volunteer aspiring level 1, coaches do not aspire to be paddlesport coaches, but kayak or canoe coaches. They only do both as they are forced to in order to get the one they want.once qualified must split any way. To do 2 star I coach the kayak and a different coach the canoe. Professionals del...
