Hazard River North Esk Edzell
The large tree that was about 100m above Fishladder Falls on the North Esk is now in the gorge below the drop. You would not see it from above and it is pretty much choking the whole channel. Will need some pretty big water to float it further out. I would say this is a portage for the moment and de...

Re: Lost Vertical Element blades Perthshite Tilt
Actually this is a post to say my blades were found last week. I got a phone call from a guy in Pitlochry who found my VE's lying well up the riverbank on the Tummel below Pitlochry. I reckon they travelled the Tilt, into the Garry then Loch Faskally, through the dam at Pitlochry before heading furt...

Re: Cutting weight from Mamba 8.1
Thanks for all the feedback which seems to point toward "Don't drill the boat" I am going to stick it back together just now. I do believe though that if it is nearly 3kg above the specified weight that either the manufacturing tolerances are not too great or there is room to shave weight from it wi...

Re: Cutting weight from Mamba 8.1
Thanks for replies. Cheers Dave the post on lightening was what I was looking for. I had a Bliss stick super rad a few years back and removed 2kg from it by drilling the seat and thigh braces. So I know that drilling can make an appreciable difference. I have similar thoughts on the footbrace as I h...

Cutting weight from Mamba 8.1
Hi, I have a Mamba 8.1 ergo creek outfitting. Manufacturer specs reckon this weighs in at 21kg but it always feels heavy so I weighed it the other day and it is about 100g from 24kg (23.9kg on my digital scales) Anyhow has anyone gone about reducing the weight of theirs? I am thinking of changing th...

Cheers Andy, the towline and elbow pads arrived today. A big plus for private sales and when they work really well, quick contact, transfer of funds and sent out with minimum delay or fuss.

Oh good I thought it was just me. I scroll through my emails each day and just delete all the ones I know I didn't ask for or want. It reduces the ones I actually open by about 90%. Unsubscribing does not always seem to work.

Re: Sanna Video
The paddling was looking good but I had to switch off. The speeded up sections ruin the video and should be cut out altogether to just show normal paddling. Just my opinion, others may disagree but I don't see what purpose it serves. I believe you paddled the whole section if you say you did I don't...

Re: Wet west Moriston Video
Only my perspective here but I think the speeded up aspects of the video ruin it. Too much happening too quickly made me want to switch it off. On another note I wrecked my sweet Rocker last year on Gunbarrel.
Great day out though, roll on next wet west.

I understand that your experience has been less than expected but as a UKRGB reader I would like to know the outcome now that IR are dealing with the issue. I read too many posts where poor service is described or there are loads of negative posts and they disappear without the feedback on the event...

Re: immersion research
Reading the original post it is clear that the order has not arrived. It does not say IR kit does not work or last. It says British kit works and lasts which is a different statement hopefully based on buying and using British made kit. It does not say that IR are the worst company in the kayak worl...

Re: Boat on Tummel Linn
Xan, you are right of course it is total laziness and by it's nature it would be easy to guess someone related to paddling had dumped it. The fishermen aren't so good themselves though as there a few empty beer bottles in the water and at the take out for the Lower Tummel yesterday morning. I am gue...

Re: Boat on Tummel Linn
Maybe that was someone's burial of a boat that had run the river loads of times. And just to be totally outrageous here, if it is buried there or on or some landfill somewhere on this earth, what difference does it make, it is still a pollutant or does it make it better if it is among the packaging,...

Re: Sweet Full Cut Rockers?
I think this post is relating to full cut rather than half cut which is the helmet area around the ears. I believe half cut is the only kayak version available although the ear pads cover the ears. Full face is a different helmet again which also covers the chin.

Re: Point & Shoot Waterproof Camera
I have one and use it on the river a fair bit. It takes some pretty good shots for point and shoot once it picks up the focus. I use it a lot on multi shot mode to take pics of rapid running or drops. Sometimes the focus is poor but that is probably pilot error rather than camera. I normally dunk it...

Re: Is Perception's guarantee/service any good ?
Can't believe how seriously some folk have taken this post. I would say that perceptions warranty is good though. I had a Blaze which had a failure of the hip pad pump bulb. I phoned and they said that they don't do whitewater stuff anymore but had a bulb which they sent out free of charge along wit...

Did you let the police know its gone floatabout? We have had a boat found before and the police got it back. Also saves any panic if anyone finds it somewhere in the river system and thinks a paddler is in trouble. Tayside Police Scotland non emergency number is 0300 111 2222. (Unless it has changed...

Re: Drysuit help.
You never know, you may find you prefer the convenience of a drysuit and fleece underneath. Getting off the river dry and not having to take damp under kit off in a cold car park. (Obviously you only need the drysuit in winter) I know when I used separates there was always dampness between the waist...

Re: Spraydeck grab loop snapped
I would probably test the replacement on dry land by holding the deck and really putting some force into pulling the release. if it holds up it will be fine. Not knowing the manufacturer maybe it was just a one off badly stitched item. By the sound of it, it was partial rather than a complete failur...

Re: adventure sports private sales..... massive overvaluatio
Am I being unreasonable here? Honetly people are asking £400 for a dry suit that was £450 a year ago, is now selling for 375 online with a guarantee.... I'm confused.... Why not go buy a new one from a shop use it a while and then sell it at a bargain price to someone. I think along the lines of ot...
