Re: Dry...dry trousers?

I have a pair of Dam-X dry trousers which are used through the winter with a normal dry cag, for both paddling and dinghy sailing. They've never let in a drop of water (although I've not taken any swims) even in torrential rain and serious spray both helming and crewing on a Mirror. No signs of wear...

Argon carabiners are made by Kong in Italy If I remember correctly.

Re: Inland Paddling in Northern Ireland

Awesome! I've been laid up in bed with a viral infection and it's pretty certain I'm going to miss the day paddling I'd planned for Tuesday, so I'm very jealous indeed. Swans and herons sound like the best kind of company to be honest anyway, and any time spent on the water beats any time spent else...

Re: Inland Paddling in Northern Ireland

I have no experience of it, but I would preach a little caution to be honest, try and get a look at the river, including any weirs, before getting on the water, and make sure there are egress options before each hazard, whether you think you are capable of running it or not. Above all, enjoy the pad...

Re: Inland Paddling in Northern Ireland

I'm based on the other end of Northern Ireland, (Newry, South East coast) so I can't help with specifics on the rivers you speak of. I would however echo Mal and suggest going to Song of the Paddle where there are a few more locals floating about and they're a friendly bunch. They've not kicked me o...

Re: Silva lp70 or 70p deck compass replacement

I read the OP as asking for suggestions on possible non-Silva/Garmin compasses to replace current knackered one?

Why I paddle...

I got out for a little paddle last night and the following 2 pictures are a perfect illustration of why I paddle. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4337/36966212805_d64fff641b_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4357/36966194105_9838e6f747_b.jpg Does anyone else have a photo or photos that illustrate ...

Re: Kayaking watches?

I use a Suunto Ambit 2 which I originally got for running and cycling. It says water resistant to 100m, and I've never had any issue with it sailing, swimming or kayaking. I also upload the GPS tracks to The Movescount app so I have a record of where I've paddled. Not tried whitewater though, so can...

Re: O'neill sector 5mm wetsuit......advice needed.

I found a wetsuit ok for short paddles, but they always seemed to chafe under the arms. A farmer john type wetsuit may work better if you find the same issue, although I now wear a rash vest with a lightweight cag and neoprene shorts, with the spraydeck on actually getting wet is much less likely un...

Thanks for the responses guys, I think I will contact them directly to ask, and I suspect they will say to go for the R6 size.

Neoprene Spraydeck Sizing

Hi All, I'm looking at some guidance on neoprene spraydeck sizing. I don't live close to any kayak shops (hen's teeth are more plentiful here in NI) and I want to get a neoprene spraydeck for the Perception Carolina 14 I have. It is one of the later ones, with the bigger cockpit, and I've measured i...
