Until there is a statutory responsibility to record water related deaths or injuries these statistics can only be taken with a pinch of salt.
Yes they report facts, but if they aren't told about an incident it won't make it on to the database!

Unless BW/Canals and rivers trust have opened some of the gates up then it is not worth bothering with.
I don't think they actually have anyone locally operating any of the gates.

I won't pass comment on the event as I was not there, however it is worth knowing that there is national govering body guidance published on running events like ski races and long distance swims.

Phone NHS direct 0845 4647 explain the situation and tell them you are a canoist!! My advise would be don't wast your time doing this. Chances are they will just divert you to an ambulance. See your GP asap. No harm in it. Probably get your bloods done. Try and keep the fluids up in the mean time. ...

Re: Can I get out of Thames at Westminster Bridge in kayak?
Options river right slipway at Vauxhaul next to the James Bond building.
Steps river right just after Westminster Bridge.
Beach on the right just after the eye at certain states of the tide.
Or keep going a mile or so to shadwell basin river left and get out at the steps next to the pub.

Re: LVWWC - The legacy Loop
I was told that they dug their own bore hole and get fresh spring water from underground, if that is the case then I could imagine the water being a lot cleaner and clearer than the River Lee water. I would second that! The water on the course is from a bore hole and is treated as far as I know. Th...

Re: Is it possible to book paddling sessions at Broxbourne y
The long and the short of it is that members of the BCU are negotiating access with or without the help of HYMB.
There is no need to negotiate access to any of the water in Lea valley, like there is no need to negotiate access anywhere in England.

We have been working very hard with Lea Valley Regional Park who will manage the site to ensure there is a strong legacy plan in place... so...

You shouldn't have any problems. You have your 23k of sports luggage and 23k of normal luggage plus hand luggage! My surf kayak bag was just over as it had bits of other kit in it, but my hold bag was only 8k so they just waved it though. Can try the old "ill just hold the boat steady on the scales"...

Aspirin for a MI is still in the UK resus council guidelines for medical emergencies and taught by many ambulance services and by voluntary ambulance services.

I have witnessed two failed attempts to revive drowning victims through CPR, so this is of more than academic interest. Anyone have experience of this sort of thing? Rather embarrising for the MOD and MCGA. Looks like the privatisation of all the SAR helicopters is on hold for the moment. Prince Williams job is safe for a bit longer!
