Re: Fowey

Hi, Another option if your coming from the west of Fowey is to drive down Station road to Caffa Mill car park, drop your kit off by the slip way and park in the large car park by the Library. Last year it was 3 quid for the day. There is a large slipway there next to the ferry slip. I have tried man...

Re: Dawn Patrol....

Having grown up doing a Dawnie (Before school and later in life before work) in Cornwall, there is simply no better time to surf or paddle. I agree there is something special about a beautiful sunset but at sunrise there is a completely different atmosphere in the water. From a surfer's point of vie...

From the Link: "We are both safe and well. Thanks to everyone for the messages. We heard the news while we were paddling today on the east coast of Korea. As soon as we landed we switched on phones and received messages from friends and relatives. After a quick search online we realised the quake wa...

Re: Outfitting a surf boat - Drilling Firbeglass?

I have found the simplest and lowest maintenance way to outfit a surfboat is foam. Shape yourself a back rest out of closed cell foam and glue it in. Then if you need to you can glue more foam in after a test run. With abit of careful cutting and shaping you can make something really snug and comfor...

My mistake, it wasn't a month ago. It was Christmas time. It was definitely WA though.

Re: Do We Really Need the Moon?

Well, i'm understanding it alot more than I did yesterday. Thanks folks. Sometimes its difficult to visualize it in your head! As Jim said, I think the topography would have a part to play especially in the few miles of coast in the metro area. There is a band of reef which stretches most of the way...

Re: Do We Really Need the Moon?

I've been in Perth now for 6 months. I have asked dozens of people about the tides and no one can give me an answer. The tide here doesn't move much but tends to go up and down when it likes and some days we will have two or three high tides and one low? I couldn't see your link Bill but heres one i...

Anyone used an ifloat?

Hi, Whilst browsing the local shiny goods shop i came across a floating waterproof phone. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of them? I might get one because i'm bored of replacing aquapacs every year. Here they are $130 which I think is about £75 roughly. Size wise they are about the same a...

I try to use a few forecasts and make my own forecast up. The swell buoys and the US Navy(?) wave height data are a great resource for swell direction as well as height.
I also use windguru quite alot.

Re: Best playboat for sea-surfing and river-running?

If you have to compromise (which I did for many years). My vote would be for a riot shape. The Turbo was my choice and out of the many playboats I tried in the surf none of the others came close for speed and responsiveness. Quite and old boat now but easy to spin, loop, cartwheel etc too.

Splitting AT2 Flexi's

Hi, I'm planning on posting my AT2 Flexi's abroad and was thinking about splitting them at the join in the middle so the package would be smaller and hopefully less likely to get damaged. Has anyone split a set of these at the join in the shaft? I was going to try a little heat and mild persuasion l...

Spoke to Denzil yesterday who said it was on. He mentioned they run it no matter how small it is.
I agree though, it looks like its going to be tiny until sunday morning I think Jim.

4 star surf training wanted

Hi,
I am looking to do my 4 star surf training within the next couple of months. Preferably in the south west or south wales. If anyone has one running or wants to do one as well so we can get together and get a course put on that would be great. PM me or post here please.

Many thanks,
Dan

Cool, looks like the photographer was stood right on the reef in a couple of those shots. You don't see enough waveski/kayak water shots compared to board riders. Participant numbers contribute to this I guess.

Perfect for festivals etc. Two cans of beer keeping cool and a sit mat aswell. Better than carrying them in your pockets where they just get shaken up. It's difficult to tell from the photos but the product looks good enough for sale not just prototype stage. Awesome work for GCSE level, nice one To...

Hi, You will need, in no particular order: Alot of patience and time, Somewhere dry and warm to shape a plug, make a mould and lay it up (assuming your going for resin/cloth build) and abit more time and patience. I too have thought about doing this but its quite a big project. I opted to try and bu...

Hi, It could be a sponge of some kind. Especially if it was out of the water on a nice low tide. There are quite literally hundreds of different kids so identification can be tricky.
