Black water works.

The bridge at the the get on , Milton bridge, is now effectively closed. Major works at the bridge with forestry clearance etc. Fenced off with many no canoe signs.

Boats to USA?

Hello you worldly wise, globally wide travelled, bunch of paddlers. Can you tell me who's good to fly with to the USA if I want to take my own boat (Arizona from UK)? How much extra is the boat likely to cost?

Waterproof mobiles.

I need a new mobile after my last one died. Does anyone have recommendations for a waterproof one? (I don't use a web phone and I've never gotten along with cases, I generally need to be able to use it on/around water too!)

Where have all the rivers gone?

Are there rivers missing from the online uk rivers guide? I looked at the south Scotland bit and it appears to have easy/play spot rivers and extreme white water. Nothing in between. I'm sure there used to be!

More of a related topic. I'm a paddler really but looking to get into open water swimming. Any tips on getting used to no artificial insulation? My hands are fine!

Greta access signs.

We had a lovely trip down the Greta today. How ever it appears that the two signs displaying the access agreement at the get on have been trashed at some point. Does anyone know of a contact for this area that should be informed?

Rescue tapes?

It used to be vogue to tie nylon tapes to the end loops of the kayak to make it easier to grab in the event of a swim. (without twisting your wrist etc) I've just got a new creeker, admitedly mostly for river running, should I fit tapes?

Sanna/Landeck?

Does anyone know how the Sanna, Trisanna & Rosanna are for paddling these days after their major floods a few years back? I last paddled them about 2005 just before they got scoured out. And where do paddlers stay now the camp site next to the Sanna in Landeck has gone?

Re: Keeping Car keys dry

Apparently more manufacturers are making blanks available. A straight metal copy with no electronics will sit in your BA fine then open your door to access your fancy expensive electronic one to start the car, switch off the alarm, etc.

Greek WW guide book, contents?

I've just got a copy of the 2nd edition greek (&some turkish) WW. It keeps making reference to the first book, saying it doesn't repeat the major sections that haven't changed. Does this mean a whole pile of popular sections are only described in the first edition??? or is it all in my 2nd edition?

Fixing hull damage

I have a worn through patch of about 2cm by 1cm on the bottom of my hull just at the gunwhale bend on my Canadian. An explorer 174. Not sure of the exact construction but so far it's only through the 'plastic' outer shell. Any ideas for fixing it? I do have access to a plastic welder but am not sure...

Lower North Esk 14/11/09

We paddled the Lower North Esk last Saturday (14th). After portaging the Fishladder falls, we briefly crossed paths with a group or two as we left and their shuttles arrived back at the bottom. I think they were from Edinburgh, Aberdeen or Dundee Uni. Anybody know how they got on??

I'm off to Devon next week and was wondering what the current access situation on the Dart is? (The Main run). Do people just go discretly, do the paddlers code, etc or is there still a formal access policy to be strictly adhered to. Can someone in the know give me an idea. (Just in case we have a w...
