Friend claimed that his swim at the Augsberg slalom course a number of years ago was a combination of by being distracted by a bikini clad topless young lady carrying a kayak up to the top of the course causing him to capsize and the suntan lotion on his knees causing loss of friction on his thigh b...

Thank you Mr Fairweather for reminding some of us live in the hole known as Essex; the furthest point from any white water. Although an hour from the Olympic slalom course and 10 minutes from the Olympic mountain bike course it still is a cr*p place.

Be warned: -
British holidaymakers driving to France this year should be warned that they need to carry a breathalyser kit in their car to comply with new French law.
The requirement to carry one will become obligatory from July 2012 with a fine of an expected 11 euros for not having a kit.

Seem to remember a Rayleigh Weir in Essex being featured in Play Boating mag. some years ago with parking available in either Sainsbury's or Halfords car parks.

Agree placing something over the lines under tension. Having been on the receiving end of a throwline snapping under tension is not something I'd like anyone else have happen to them, I couln't feel my fingers for over a week.

Gaffa tape and space blanket are the only requirements.. and the knowlege on what to do if and when an accident happens. Failing that have a paddle buddy who is a paramedic and leave it to him to sort out, unless it's him that needs assistance then it's his own fault for putting himself in that posi...

Like Dave I'm just back from the Coruh and Briol's Greenpiece campsite. Would recommend all to go, we paddled in 5 days most of the Coruh, the Bahal, the Oltu and the Tortum. Just contact Briol at birol_alkan@hotmail.com and he'll sort the rest.
