Re: Yellow River, China Expedition Film

Ace edit from River Militia, thanks guys. In terms of the planning for this trip; it continued a rather morbid theme from our 2010 trip to China when we completed the Baiyou-Batang section of the Yangtze in 9 days that had been attempted twice previously in 1986, resulting in a number of Chinese raf...

Re: Paddling in Chengdu, China

Hi Rache, Ace news, you should definately take your paddling gear. There are at least half a dozen active paddlers in Chengdu, including the dealer for Jackson if you wanted one of their boats. They are quite organised and have a loose form of 'club'. There are also a bunch of paddlers around the Ch...

Re: "Fairy Glen Log"

Hi All, Correct, I set up this group in order to legitimately record recreation time spent around the Fairy Glen so if the scheme does get past the surveying phase it is possible to show the true recreational value of this area. This resource has certainly helped in previous cases overseas. So, if y...

Re: VE Glass blades

Nice to see so much appreciation for the VE brand here people! I have been using a set of 200cm glass blades/straight glass shaft heavily for over a year now on a mix of big volume and creeks and they have been mega! Like so many of you have pointed out there's plenty of power from a good sized blad...

Re: Whitewater Kayaking in South East China - ANY IDEAS?

Hey, Unfortunately Eastern China is pretty well developed for hydropower but there are some rad rain fed creeks and waterfalls to be found and plenty of class II/III. If you have some free time, I can put you in touch with some paddlers in Guangzhou; just jump on the high speed from Kunshan and you'...

Chilean Santiago or Dominican Republic Santiago?
I did it East-West once.
Delhi-London-NY-Santiago, Chile. 3 flights, easy as pie.
Lots of flights route out of Spain, look into that.

The Perfect Environment; not the usual Chinese gnar.

Hey there,

If you are interested in the growth of paddlesport in China, have a watch of this video filmed by Bradford McArthur and Gabriel Cote-Valiquette this past summer.

Nice one,

A complete descent of any major drainage is remarkable. I really liked reading about Aussie paddler Mick O'shea's solo source to sea paddle of the Mekong, big trip!

You have answered your own question there Wayne, it's a TV show. If it isn't in the script, it isn't happening. Despite what the 'norm' may be. All in the name of entertainment!

Brilliant, in that case I have it. It seems fine, not damaged at all. You can collect them from me at Canolfan Tryweryn, although I'm not in over the weekend. Give me a call on 01678 522307 and let me know when your coming. Ale is my drink of choice! Nice one.

Re: Bolivia intel..

My buddy Ben and I spent a month in Bolivia and had a fantastic time. We went a little earlier than Mark et al, subsequently had high river levels and spent a lot of time digging vehicles out of mud as we didnt always have our own drivers so hitched in banana trucks. Have you got any ideas where you...

Hi there Jake, I can remember meeting you. You are right in thinking that the best bet is just to turn up and sort it out from there. Just drop into each office and see what they have on. The main trips leaving KTM early Sep will be either Sun Kosi or Trisulli, so see if you can get yourself on a Su...

Food dehydrators

What are your experiences with food dehydrators? I would like to make between 100 & 150 dehydrated meals for an expedition later this year. When browsing through the food dehydrators online, all of them are merrited for their ability to dry fruit and jerky, however none for their curry/chilli con ca...
