Re: Qatar and Emirates Airline now charge for boats

That is a massive shame. Gives fewer options for getting East with kayaks.

Re: Where runs in March?

Give some consideration to India, particularly North of Rishikesh, it's most excellent. I've been March/April time and works for a 2 week trip, lots of clear water, granite creekin'.

Re: Eastern Austria guides

There's a wealth of information here: http://4-paddlers.com/61/index.html website is hard to link to, but there's an english version, click flow info, then rivers and then select Austria.

Lots of random places but is Austrian so has that covered!

We hooked up with the locals for a couple of days before heading onwards to the granite of Portugal. Peter Wood made contact, give him a shout for details as they took us to some ok/good kayaking.

Re: Air India

On numerous occasions in this scenerio I've just used a roof rack strap to attach my paddle bag to my boat. I've been concerned about damage but never had a problem I believe for few reasons, I pack travel towel around the blades, kayaks tend to get loaded onto their own trolley and packed separatel...

Re: modern technology and kayaking

Couple of things over the last 5-10 years have made a positive difference to me: Better weather forecasting, river gauging and online river guide resources both home and away on my smart phone (given signal) often means there much less faffing about to actually getting to a river, which for me is gr...

Re: Weight Range for Pyranha Burn Mk2

I'm pretty similar to you (66Kg, 5'9"(and a half)) and have paddled both. You would fit into a small but if you are planning class III/IV and above I'd go for the Medium and make sure you start with the height of the seat when you start adjusting it.

Looking for Summer 4 Star Sea Kayak Training

I'm looking for a three day 4 star sea kayak training course including the coastal nav module, does any one know of any running over the summer? I know a couple but the dates aren't great. Failing that are there individuals around that want to do this so we can collectively book an instructor on dat...

Re: Extra Long Roof Bars / Extending ???

I got an extra long set for my VW Touran and had to extend the slots on the underside to allow the feet to slide in far enough to reach the roof rails. It was a long job with a hacksaw blade but would have been a 2 minute job with an angle grinder. I'm happy to take some photos if that doesn't make ...

Re: Is paddling in India Extreme?

I think Matt's suggestion was the low volume creeking options around Rudraprayag, as yes, the main rivers are completely nuts during monsoon. Ata God, Gholtir, Mandakini Trib (no idea of the name), East and West Nayyar can be seen as examples on this video of creeking stuff in the area https://vime...

Choice, features and use of throwlines will be covered on your Foundation Safety and Rescue Training, which is on the pathway to the Level 1 coach course. This should give you a chance to try a lot before you buy so you can get one you are comfortable with.
