Re: Best ww river

For me it would be the Guil too from what I've experienced and my ability. It doesn't have my favorite section I've ever run on it but every section I have run has been amazing. It has so many great sections with incredible views and all feeling different.

Re: Rosanna - still worth paddling

Paddled it a couple of weeks ago and it was a pretty slow grade 2. We couldn't wait to get off it. It was a bit low though so if you get water it might be worth it, but it definitely wasn't worth it for us.

Re: Does walking off count as a swim?

On a purely "banter" level it definitely counts, you will get the piss taken a bit and will get "swimpoints" with my group of friends. But its never taken seriously. It's not about ridiculing people for walking away its about laughing at failures. It's not a joke that would ever affect a safety deci...

Re: Ethics of building in safety to nasty drops

For me, I'm not a fan of the idea, I kayak to take on nature. If i wanted to tackle man made obsitcals I would do obstical courses for my hobby. I can definately see people desire to add safety to iconic drops but its not for me. However I may be slightly hypocritical because I would not think twice...

Re: Equality in our sport

I saw somewhere that the gender restrictions on events has a lot to do with participation. If not many women or men participate in a single sport then it doesn't get included. I did see a C1 womens slalom event on TV (world champs I think) and they were making a case for it to be included in the Oly...

Re: Has anyone 'Never' swum?

Comments about not focusing on swimming because it points to negatives i can see the merit of if with new and improving paddlers. However ribbing your mate you've paddled with for years for swimming on something you styled is all part of the fun right? (and visa versa)

If anybody knows of anything a little steeper and grade 4ish around Landek i would very much like to hear from them, looking at being there in the second week of July. I've been to Austria twice before and would like to try something different this time would love a little adventure.

Re: Boat storage

Both of my boats have oil canned as a result of pins and nothing else. Considering the force applied to a boat though paddling and pins I would never even consider how I stored a plastic ww boat. I just let it lie however it falls when I chuck it in.

Re: River Derwent - Darley Dale to Artists Corner

There is a sign in the quarry saying no canoeing which should be ignored and I had an unpleasant look from a fisherman when I did it but nothing to really worry about. At the get on if you really need to park there then there is a bit by the river or if you go up the road away from the river on the ...

We are reaching the final stages of the agreement now which will enable more paddling and also use for commercial river operators on payment of fees. We are also organising tours and events. Re: Corsica 2013?

My trip last year failed miserably but not because of low water. The water was low but people could always find stuff to paddle and seemed to be having a great time. We stayed at camp Irranella (sp?) which is where they kayak session festival is held, there were loads of other boaters despite the fe...

Probably the Golo Gorge in Corsica back in Easter. I think it would be pretty interesting, not important but pretty interesting. I get that it could be somewhat murky as to what a decent is but I think people are doing that oh so ukrgb point of being overly pedantic by talking about only paddleing the flat bits and walking the white stuff in a white...

Re: Roll both sides?

Handrolling has only ever saved me from one swim when I lost my paddles. I fluked the rest of the rapid with no blades and only got an eddy because my mate shoved me in to one. Not massively useful but it felt good to nail it in the pool.
