Re: Competition – Name this new rapid on the Greta
Slime has escaped the country and left me with the task of choosing a winner for the name that rapid competition. As in the good old Slime tradition of confusing everybody with incorrect beta the grid reference he gave was for RocK Hop rapid which has not really changed much other than have few boul...

Re: Soft Roof Bars, How many boats
yep they carry boats fine, but with the drawbacks already mentioned. straps through the car draw in water during rain. Avoid damage to the car roof by removing them every day and washing any grit off them. As mentioned take T-cut to remove minor scratches and remove kayaks and rack before returning ...

Re: Running the River Rothey
No restrictions on the Rothay. If there is water it is fine. Only place to take care is around the short grade 3 rapid just above Pelter Bridge and not far after leaving Rydal Water. The land between the lake and the bridge is all private so there is no opportunity for landing, inspection, portage o...

Re: Smoo Cave Waterfall
I've abseiled in and climbed out. Must admit never thought to check the depth of the landing, but its quite a long drop of about 80 feet so would need a deep pool as there is not enough room to boof that without hitting the walls.

Re: Barrier across the Dee
When strands of wire were stretched accross the River Kent above kendal it was reported to the police a dangerous hazard and the local MP (Tim farrom )was also informed. They took it very seriously and the landowner was instructed to remove the hazard promptly. Surely the police can not let this riv...

yep, this is a Big Big change to how instructors, guides and centres will work on National trust land. I have seen very little said about it on forums and can only assume not many know ...

Re: EA Weirs/structures used for training.
Dear Shelley G Please ignore this stonercanoe guy who seems to be on a high horse. Thank you for your reminder that climbing on the structure is not really allowed and that groups should find other places for their training. I aknowledge Trespass laws do exist to privately owned structures. I imagin...

Dailies for me. One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is dailes themselves can vary quite alot from different manufacturers. I always had no problem until my optician changed brands without telling me and i went on an overseas trip with the new batch. What a pain I lost one every day with even mi...

Re: Has anyone got anything positive out of all this floodin
Call me a complete bar steward, but I disagree. Of course it's devastating for those affected by the flooding's damage, but despite that there has been some great water with many rarely run rivers coming into condition and a few stonking flood epics. I don't think it's inappropriate to ask about an...

Re: Paddling in the Lakes in October
It isn't the case that you *can't* paddle the rivers, just that it is still the fishing season, and you will incur the wrath of the fishy people. It is a popular area for fishing and so, for a peaceful life paddlers tend to wait till November. Don't know where swimmer boy gets this idea. have been ...

This affects DJs promoting their mixes far more than a kayaking video and many are losing their pages on s...
