Newark. Great for solo soul surfing, blunts and cleans. Reasonably wide range of levels just as hpp stays to flood out.
Trent lock is the best playspot in the uk but needs lots of water!

Shame I'll miss ya. Guess i will have to endure the hardships of pithy humor by internet intil a Cali trip is calling... So for an update on the HPP scrounging - deferred the poisoning until Sat morning. Turned up on Thurs in the grey rain with a hangover and had a moment of clarity. Plus Iforgot m...

I'd say that's pretty unusual as they've always been good to me over the years. Normally have a cup of tea and a chat. Everyone has a bad day now and again though. Hope you get your new cag sorted out!

Re: Cheap on line WWPF Tickets
Hi,
Was just about to buy a ticket online and couldn't find out on the website what this includes. I notice you get a t-shirt and entrance to a party but was wondering if camping is included and if so where it is?

It's going to still be very cold in April in many areas, but there is still boating to be had. I'd say BC/Alberta Creekin May/June and some afterwards Playboating June/July also skook is tidal so should go most months Ontario/Ottawa High water - Apr-June Low water - Jul-Sept (low water is really goo...

For easy rivers good rolling and lightness I´d recommend a jackson fun. Some must weight half what my loaded creek boat weighs.
Good luck!

Re: What playboat for surf and rivers- on a budget?!
I'd say if you are looking for a cheap second hand boat that will surf and run rivers you'd be better going for something older e.g.
Inazone (230 or 240) or I3/4
Trickster/Prankster/Booster
X or Z
etc

Re: Travel US->Ottawa->US maybe a question for SiWiles?
I was thinking of last week of Aug or maybe 1st week of Sept. What is the dam release boating in NY? I have paddled around Ottawa a couple of times (Gatineau, Rouge, Lachine etc ) but I know very little about the east coast in general.
Cheers for the info.

Thanks dude, I am guessing you travel up to BC etc occasionally from Cali? I've travelled around a bit, but US immigration always worries me a bit for some reason!
Also, I think you posted a map up a while back, I look forward to using it next time I return to California. Great work.

Travel US->Ottawa->US maybe a question for SiWiles?
Hi, I was thinking of a trip to Ottawa, but flying into New York with Virgin and then driving up, possibly with a couple of days in NY etc. I know the US has a requirement for machine readable passports and you have to fill a website questionnaire etc for entry, I was just wondering if there are any...

Re: Peru, Argentina, Chile this winter
I'd second what the guys above have said. I'm not sure you'd find many other boaters in Bolivia (check with Mark R). Peru, best bet is to contact raft companies, logistics could be a bit of a mission. Rodrigo and Ben May will sort everything out guiding out of Pucon, Chile but willing to go further ...

Neil,
Try the large karnali too, I think it would be a great big guy boat. If I didn't have a nomad I might go for one. I have also found Jackson Kayaks to be great for big guys.

Re: Glasses vs Contacts vs Laser surgery vs nothing
I use monthly disposible lenses and can use them when swimming. it makes no difference in water salt or fresh. Costs from Asda about £50 for 6 months cheaper per pair if you buys for a year. Yes, but can you find an optician that will recommend lenses for swimming, let alone in dirty water. I haven...

Re: Glasses vs Contacts vs Laser surgery vs nothing
Hello, I have successfully worn normal glasses with a strap paddling on big water such as the Nile, Lachine, Surf etc without a problem. Cold weather boating like winter in the UK is bad as they steam up. I can use daily toric contact lenses which get me pretty much perfect vision even with my bad e...

Hi Sara,
Both boats should be fairly rare in the UK so there is a chance you might find them. I'll be keeping a look out on Ebay etc.
Hopefully still see you in the alps.

Unfortunately that gauge has been broken for some time. It was definitely too high last night at 7pm. We went to Farndon instead, the wave was at a great level, but it was a massive pain to get back onto it either by walking or using a throwline.Andywillson wrote:Gauge tel no 01559615690

Re: Help with alps grades pls
S-bends on the Tees with a decent amount of water would be grade 4 as it says in the guidebook. This would be comparable to some grade 4 sections in the Pete Knowles guidebooks. Some might be harder and some easier for you on a certain day as all rapids are different. Of course a grade 4 river might...

As far as I know there are no access problems on the Dee, I have not had a problem in the last 10 years of paddling whenever. However there are some people around who want to make problems so it's good to be on your guard.
Have fun.

WANTED: Dagger Pescription RX 6.9 (or 4Fun)
Does anyone have this boat in good condition and want to sell. Preferably near Nottingham.
Alternatively I might be interested in buying a 4Fun Jackson (New or old model).
No other suggestions please.
