Frank, please be assured that 999 calls are treat exactly as sean_soup has described above and that while the operator is asking for those extra details, they will have already despatched the emergency response on receipt of the location and nature of the call; and subsequent questioning will not d...

Re: Very sad news

I started this thread because I was one of the many bystanders who watched this dreadful event unfold. Three main things learned I was stood by one of the walkers ringing 999, as mentioned above it was hard for the caller to convety the sense of urgency, the call handler wanted to know too much irre...

River Vyrnwy

The river has been running @0.46 for about a week now which Rainchasers interprets as low. Never paddled this river before but would like to give it a go. Isit a worthwhile trip at this level ?

Thanks

Re: A bit of career advice?

Dont wish to pour cold water over your plans but making a decent living in outdoor education / coaching in the UK is very difficult.I know several well qualified coaches who have had to change careers to make a living. I dont think there as a living to be made in paddling unless you make or sell boa...

Re: Access and facility charging at Canolfan Tryweryn

Where is the access point which you can use to paddle through the site without using the facilities ?

I think the £14 fee for non BCU members stops a lot of people using Tryweryn (including me) whereas I would be happy to pay £7. Sometimes charging less per user brings in more money overall

Re: Access in Llangollen

Interesting that there is now an "official" seal launch point into the Dee just below Horseshoe Falls and a get out out at the car park behind the Ponsonby Arms but according to Midland Flyfishers we can only paddle with their consent. I for one (of many) will not be waiting for consent or following...

Thanks, Trywern 23/10/16

Thanks to the unseen paddlers who rescued my green Karnali from just below the campsite bridge and the other unseen paddlers and walkers who rescued my red Werners and got them back to the office.

It was great to be re united with both.

Very grateful to all involved

Found ,wet kit Llangollen Car park

We found a bag of wet kit, wetsuit & some thermals on a bench in the car park behind the Ponsonby Arms (After Town Falls) @ about 2 45 pm 27/03/16. Left it in the shop at Mile End Mill. It probably belongs to a lady, it was all very neatly folded !

Re: Ottawa river advice

Wilderness Tours are the big operators here but there are others such as Owl and River Run. Nearest big town is Pembroke, nearest village is Beachburg. Not paddled or rafted it myself but have watched Freestyle there. Its a huge river with a lot of dams and flat sections so local advice required

Re: Spraydeck for large Pyranha Karnali

I started this thread over 4 years ago !

I use a playboater work deck and its given me no problems but is is now showing a few signs of wear around where it fits over the cockpit rim, probably too many trips upside down in rocky rivers

Last year a mate lost his rack with boats attached from a Kia Sportage with the integrated rails. Good to hear that other users have found them OK, I'm not too convinced though.

Re: Need to hire a small car to fit 2 playboats

Thanks for the ideas. The boats will only be in the car from the airport to venue. We will be living the life of luxury in a hotel but will have a boat free car for running around while son & wife take part in the Worlds.

Thanks

Re: Travel Insurance

Fully agree with Chris Bolton, EHIC card is a must. We have called on the health services of Slovenia and Portugal in the last few months and with those cards we only paid the same as the locals, 80 cents (!) in Slovakia and 20 euros in Portugal. Without those cards we would have had to pay upfront ...

Time to buy a new throw line. Can anyone recommend one which stows in its bag easily and does not need a steam press to get it back in the bag after use.

Thanks
