Re: VW T6 Roof Rack advice please!

We have a Karitek mounted on Rhino Delta bars and it works well. The T Tracks that were on our T5 looked rather flimsy so I removed them and fixed the Rhino bars directly to the screw sockets that used to hold the T Tracks. Solid as a rock. Can you remove the rails on your T6 and do the same? Hi, y...

Re: Impatient.... help!

I have probably been close to your weight in the past, and I could probably think of some designs that should work well for your weight (most will if day tripping since they are designed to carry camping kit as well as a paddler), so much will depend on skill and experience with respect to whether ...

Re: Impatient.... help!

I would suggest looking at Rockpool GT My usual sea kayak is a Rockpool GT. It's a great boat and I find it stable, manoeuvrable and fairly fast. It has enough volume for a 20st paddler but I don't think the cockpit will be wide enough somebody of that weight. My son, who is a muscular 95kg, doesn'...

VW T6 Roof Rack advice please!

Guys Just wondering what folk have found to be the best solution for kayak carrying on a VW SWB T6? I understand the side rails with cross bars are more styling than load carrying... 20-30kg max? I’ve looked at the Rhino Delta 3 bar system, this looks a good option, but I am thinking long term that ...

Re: sea kayak for big guys

When I was your weight I used to paddle an Ocean Kayak 15ft sit on top, and had to use scupper plugs to stop water coming in. At around 115kg I moved into a Valley Argonaught, I can still paddle it but I do rattle around now at 85kg. Don’t worry the weight will come off, just think how long it took...

Re: Impatient.... help!

Scorpio hv Stable big boys boat which you can sell on for what you paid. Well done on the weight losses ..you can and will do it. Best workout for fat burn is intense kettlebell session, do that with a caloric deficit and you will shrink. Up protein to maintain muscle as your body burns off muscle ...

Re: sea kayak for big guys

This post was recommended to me... I’ve currently been losing weight in order to be healthier, feel better and get back into kayaking! I looked up all of the boat recommendations but it seems most of the boats are no longer made. It would be great if this post could be brought up to date if any larg...

Re: Impatient.... help!

What, in particular, is your limitation in choosing a kayak? Is it cockpit size/width, stability, getting in and out, etc? Some previous threads that might help: https://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=105427 https://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=124854...

Re: Impatient.... help!

On the subject of weight loss, swimming & cycling are good ways to burn up fat with relatively low impact on your joints (compared to jogging eg). On a hilly 2.5hr ride yesterday I must have burned off almost 2,000kcal. When people talk about the benefits of cycling they'll mention cardiovascular f...

Hi Looking for some guidance please... I’ve been working on my weight and general health over the past year... dropping from 26st to 20.5st currently, I still have a journey to go but my patience has run out, I want to get a sea kayak now to aid further weight loss. Perception Carolina 14 Expedition (RED)

Just wondered if anyone can suggest a good dealer to buy from... called a few locals today and left feeling like I am putting them out because I want a red boat and not a multi-coloured version (that happens to be in stock)! I hate poor customer service... as a newbie to the sport I'd be most gratef...
