Re: Dead Leg- Does any one else get this problem?
I am sorry but Any point of contact in the boat can cause it. is wrong. Bewildered sassanack is absolutely correct The final result is the same (dead leg), although different parts of the outfitting can be the cause i.e. the seat itself (direct pressure on nerve), or the hip pads (can't shuffle and ...

Re: Sweet Rocker Problems
Hi a steroid ointment is not over the top. 0.5% hydrocortisone is almost homeopathic. The question is why have 2 people developed a rash. 1; the liner is inherently allergenic. ie it is the wrong type of liner 2: the liner is slightly allergenic and these two people are really unlucky 3: the liner t...

Actually you can have either technique of laser surgery and join police, etc these days. Thee is a guy at Moorfields who does the special forces, premiership players, etc. He invented most of the new techniques and is superb. Opticians will never reccomend laser surgery. If you go for laser they los...

Re: Thanks Simon Westgarth
I would agree, the tendency now is very much for my colleagues to MRI scan or scope at least after the first dislocation in fit active people, with surgery a certainty after the second pop. If you think of what you have to damage to dislocate your shoulder, the forces involved and the damage are con...

Re: DW training - aching "hips"
I suspect that this is because you are using new muscles. Also you are probably sitting rigidly in the seat rather than relaxed, so that each wobble of the boat pulls on an already tight muscle. Have a look online for hip adductor stretches and try a visit to a sports massage person who should be ab...

Hi green pastures hospital is the leprosy hospital run by INF in Nepal and is in Pokhara! There is a guy Andrew Hodges working as a Plastic Surgeon in Uganda, I can give you his contact details. Re: Glasses vs Contacts vs Laser surgery vs nothing
hi Janet I would recommend laser surgery. If he is sporty at all then have the laser. At 45 with short sight and astigmatism I decided that I had had enough of wearing glasses since I was 7 years old. I have never looked back and only wish I had had it done much earlier. I would recommend going to M...

Hi I would look again at the Jackson range. He is the only person I know of who having had children has designed all of his boats in childrens sizes. The Fun 1 has a weight range of 30pounds upwards. http://www.jacksonkayak.com/kayaks/product.cfm?product=kidseries They are good boats which children ...

Re: Any connection between latex wrist seals and tenosynovitis?
Hi What do you mean by tenosynovitis? There are as many different types of tenosynovitis in the hand (including the so called tenosynovitises) as there are types of kayak. Therefore to say that all teno is due to tight seals is about as useful as saying that all kayaks have edges. I am pretty sure t...

Hi Not a problem I have had with my All star. I need to tighten the screws about once every 6 months. I would strip everything down and look at the nuts and bolts to check their condition. Then reassemble making sure that the straps etc are not caught in the gap. Then use some threadlock to hold thi...

Re: Are some paddlers 'naturally' talented?
Try reading "Outliers" , a superb book looking at the whole concept of genius and natural ability. The author makes a very good point that most outstanding athletes are outstanding because of the work that they put in. It takes on average 10,000hours of practise to be an olympic level athlete. Bill ...

Re: Repaire advice for Carbon-Kevlar Slalom Boats
Hi
I am sure there is advice on here, but I am going to suggest that you look at the sea kayak forum. They already have all the threads on this along with archived articles. There are a number of people who have done to sea kayaks exactly what you are needing to do.
best Wishes
Chris

I am quite happy to pay entry fees, etc
