Re: RIVER DEE (Llangollen Town to Ty Mawr Country Park/ Newb

Paddled this the other day, nice setion, plenty of fisherman, no issues with them but stood talking to one of them was a guy who told us we were trespassing, we said we were not and that he didnt own the water. He disagreed, he then took pictures of us on his phone, we just paddled of. We were not g...

Re: RIVER DANE (Gradbach to Rushton Spencer)

Did the lower section of this today from Dane bridge to Rushton Spencer in open boats, a good grade 2 trip. a few trees to dodge round and only one portage around the weir. EA gauge was at about 0.50 at Rushton Spencer, a good medium flow, you couldnt do much lower in open boats but you could in kay...

Re: Where next?

If it rains a fair amount and the rivers come up there is plenty of good rivers to paddle in Derbyshire and surrounding areas.

Just a few that i have done include, the Wye, Ashop, Don, Dane, Noe, Goyt and a few other little ditches, share anything else you explore in the area on here.

Cheers

Re: Conflict on River Wye - Buxton

Cheers for sharing your experience, i think its important that access should improve in the Peak District! and to do this encouraging more paddling in the area is bound to help. Many good rivers to be done, unfortunately we need plenty of rain to do them, which we have had this year! happy paddling ...

Paddled the section below this to Meadowhall last friday in opens, the river was fairly low, bit scrapy on some of the rapids but all the weirs were fine. One portage around a double drop vertical weir. Met many friendly fishermen. Nice enough trip for a city paddle. cheers andy

Re: RIVER DANE (Gradbach to Rushton Spencer)

Having paddled this river quite a bit, if you are thinking of paddling this river, it might be worth asking nicely if you can use the hostel grounds to access the river, maybe a small donation for parking towards their break for kids charity?

Done this run about 10 times now, still enjoy it. Also recently paddled from Upper Booth to Barber Booth in high water. Very tree ridden with lots of pinning potential and branches to avoid, with one portage. Lots of good rock slides and small drops. If there was no trees it would be fantastic, cont...

I did the upper Goyt from just below Derbyshire bridge to Errwood last night. Good run at a good level, just one portage to be aware of.

[quote="hun"]Hi, I've paddled it four times in recent months. It's the best run in the Peak District. A good run but definetly not the best run in the Peak District. Out of all that i have done, including this trip 3 times, i think the Dane and the upper goyt (above Errwood reservoir) are better mor...

Peak District

Wondering what rivers people have done in the Peak District in the last week?

I have done the Noe, The Goyt from Whaley to New Mills, the Goyt from roman lakes to MCC, the Derwent from Ladybower down to Bamford and had a go on the ditch running below Chatsworth Edge.

Re: RIVER DANE (Gradbach to Rushton Spencer)

Paddled the Dane today. There has been 2 landslides, one small one which doesnt effect the river just after the tree at the start of the gorge and another one towards the end of the gorge secton, about half way down. This is a decent landslide that creates a pool at the top of it making it easy to p...

I am yet to be challenged in the peaks. I think more encouragment to paddle even if their is no access. I ...

Did the greta and the upper derwent today, no gauge for the upper derwent. The greta was on the white line at the get on when we did the shuttle, gone up an inch by the time we got back. EA website for Threlkeld was reading about 1.10m The river was a nice high level in my opinion. Great days boatin...

yeah i think so. Also did the dane today!(5th time!) such a different river in lower water, it was a good medium flow with lots of rocks showing and plenty of eddys, easy to get down, mainly grade 2-3. On the EA website at congleton, it was 0.35. I would say you wouldnt want to get on with to much b...
