Re: Wavesport transformer (T1)

I'm not sure it was really so hateful. Deb Pinneger paddled one and, without the bolt-ons it is not dissimilar to more modern short playboats. Being short it would spin and cartwheel well which was the order of the day back then I am working from quite old memories but I really did not like it at a...

Re: Wavesport transformer (T1)

Why a T1?

I never owned one but I tried a Transformer a couple of times and thought it was a pretty hateful boat.

What is it about the transformer that has taken your fancy?

Re: Nose diving

Funnily enough I was helping a friend with this over the weekend. They were leaning back on steep take offs and nose diving as a result. Essentially, leaning back is not often a good thing to do. As has been mentioned earlier in the thread, it tends to push your feet down and nose dive the boat. Eve...

Thanks guys. Mini2 was asking for me. Went for the necky jive found one really cheap. Thanks for the suggestions Gary. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Excellent choice! In my opinion the Jive has the best surf hull of any whitewater boat ever made. The only thing that surfs better tha...

Cheesy's bit is at around the 8:40 mark.

He is normally pretty good in front of the camera though.

Dan, I would look out for a Jester Cyclone too.

They are one of the roomiest, comfiest IC boats ever made and are great boats.

The Gambler was definitely made by Eskimo and I hated it!

I have never found any boat less controllable than the Gambler. It just seemed to do whatever it wanted, pretty much ignoring your input.

Re: Warm When Wet

I am going to go the other way than most with my advice for keeping warm. You do not need a drysuit to keep warm in my opinion, you need good thermals! My dry kit is really not very dry these days (I'll buy some new stuff eventually) but I am never cold when paddling. I find a nice super thin base l...

Re: Riot Magnum - Opinions?

I love the Magnum. If you are a fan of creek boats that need a little driving rather than corking down through things then the Magnum is great.

I still paddle a Salto and love it though (never found a boat I want to replace it with) so my opinions might be a bit outdated.

Re: waterproofing

My solution has always just been to loosen the bolt slightly, blob in some silicone sealant, do the bolt up, wipe away any excess.

This has always worked well for me and is super quick and easy.

Re: Mega Jester Rio feedback welcome....

As I am sure you have found it tracks pretty well but feels somewhat locked in when you come to do a big turn. That is because in a boat like the Rio, it is locked in, really locked in. You have a great big, long, round rail just gripping the water and holding you firm. For a big dynamic turn you ar...

At first I was convinced it was a bastardised Prijon Alien but I think people are right with the shout of Prijon Samurai rather than the older Alien.

I so badly wanted a Samurai back in the day and I feel sorry for this poor kayak and what has become of it.

Pretty much since the first Nookie Ti Tops came out many moons ago (those cool blue and silver ones) they have been my go to summer paddling top. Yes, they're brilliant. A bugger to get off, but brilliant!! D A thin base layer thermal is your friend ;) My preference is a Helly Hanson Dry Denzil

I would give Pete a bell, I am sure he will gladly elaborate on what the hold up is. This is not some giant compan...

As you are in a more old school inspired slicey playboat (good move in my opinion) then Play Daze by Ken Whiting would be an awesome instructional video.

It dates from the era of slicey playboats and is hard to beat for learning all the cool old school tricks (stern squirts, stalls, pirouettes etc.).
