Campsites and pleasant sections of Thames
My wife and I are thinking of spending a week on the Thames, perhaps somewhere near Oxford. We would like to camp somewhere (same place all week), and do some gentle paddling in an open, hopefully involving stopping at pubs and tea-rooms for sustenance. Does anyone have any suitable suggestions, esp...

Re: Your best day on the rivers in 2010?
The Gyr, late afternoon on a baking hot day, about a foot higher than I had paddled it before. Followed by beers at the Bar Alphand at the finish to try and quell the adrenaline shakes! Same here for me. On the first day of our trip late afternoon, same week as you, my first run down the Gyr follow...

I don't know what that joint is, Cosmic, but if it's the one I have trouble with somewhere in the region of where your spine joins your pelvis, then my friend who is a physio gave me a good cure that my missus can now effect. It involves me lying on my back and pulling my knee up to my chest, and th...

Wey navigation advice
A friend and myself are planning a short open canoe trip with our wives on the Wey (or Godalming) navigation in a couple of weeks. We're looking for a scenic trip of 2-3 hours with a pub or tearoom in the middle. We would prefer to start and finish in the same place, but not against an A to B trip i...
