Don't forget the Jackson Karma RG, a better boat than the hammer IMHO - try one in big stuff - its great!

Re: Good boat for surfing and short coastal days?
It just goes to show, certain boats suit certain people. I agree about the SP Mark, great day boat but I would have to say it is a more dynamic surf kayak than the Delphin. A beginner would disagree as the Delphin is more reassuring but less dynamic IMHO.

Re: Good boat for surfing and short coastal days?
To just clarify Mark, The Delphin 155 is too stable if you want to progress your skills to surfing and handling a real sea kayak. By that I mean being able to steer your kayak on a green wave using edge control, the Delphin's bow has the effect of turning back into a surf away from a bongo. This is ...

Re: Good boat for surfing and short coastal days?
No connections with Valley and I have the following rm's in my fleet: Valley Gemini SP Jackson Karma RG Tiderace Vortex I have used both the Delphin 150 and 155 Gemini is the best day, rockhopping, surf kayak by far IMHO (-ve's weak seat and poor hatches) Jackson Karma is the best pure rock hopping ...

Re: Wobbly Corryvreckans ^
In my experience it is the shaft that wears on the inside of the femail end and can't see this is repairable. I along with a few of my clients have glued them into a one piece and use them for rockhopping and surfing with confidence, which wasn't the case when they were 2 piece.

I have had both the 220 and 330 and highly recommend them, the new zip works great on the 330.

Hi Simon, I have a very nice pair of VE (Vertical Element) Explorer cranks and they are bomb proof. I have tried to break them on many rocks (don't ask or look at my Facebook page as it might give away the reasons I hit rocks!) The paddle is fairly heavy at 1200gms but the glass blades and carbon sh...

Interesting discussion as always. My Typhoon is getting tired and I am tempted to send it back to them to get tested, it has been very well used over the last 5/6 years? I am interested in 'long term tests' rather than all the new ones that come out in the mags - Douglas - you da man for this! How l...

Hi Guys, Need some advice from the people that know. I have used loads of different waterproof cameras and currently using the Canon D10. Just an update for those new to the dark art. Memory map now available on Android, works well and can get both chart and O/S loaded. Can use as a GPS and log trips, measure distances etc. License is a bit of a faf but ring them if you are struggling. I booked a phone session with their tech guys and...

Mike Nelson from North shore and Valley will be there as well as Jimski...

Re: Advice on Android-friendly tidal-stream Apps
Navionics is great and you also get land on google earth (satellite) so you have both land and sea available on screen at the same time - I don't know of any GPS that does this? The route measuring facility is great too. As mentioned you only get tidal flow from the marked tidal diamonds but don't k...

Hi Kate, I have used quite a few different models. In my opinion it is best to go with a deck mount slightly raised. I have used a few different types of tripod and now buy really cheap £1.50 ones knowing they are going to give up anyway - I have used expensive ones (Gorilla) and they have broken or...
