Travel Insurance

Hey guys, I'm looking at doing a commercial trip in Nepal (grade 4 trip with GRG) and they need me to have travel insurance. I have spent the last 5.5 years living in Australia (Working Holiday & 457 Visa) and NZ (Working Holiday). I am now going back to the UK but stopping off in Nepal hopefully fo...

Re: Paddle destinations near Australia

Hey, i'm also finshing up in Australia after 3.5 years, was planning to go to NZ to find work/kayaking out there. There is a river I've long wanted to run called the Asahan in North Sumatra, it's little known but absolutely world class (google it) and it's not too far from KL. This is a little bit o...

NZ - West coast - Finding paddling partners

Hey guys, I'm a grade 4 paddler heading to NZ on a Working Holiday Visa in late October for a year to work and play. I'll be buying a car and kayak in Christchurch and then heading off to the west coast. Does anyone knows of any good places to stay to meet other boaters? Or know of any other boaters...

Re: Ideas for medical electives with kayaking

Australia actually has some good kayaking, especially in FNQ which has a mixture of free flowing rivers and dam release rivers (good for the dry season and the rafters) . James Cook University I think specialises in tropical medicine and is based in Townsville and Cairns. http://www.cairnskayaking.c...

Re: Eric Jackson's Rolling and Bracing: technical disaster?

I had this DVD, and after listening to the part about turning a high brace into a roll, I was rolling straight away. It's quite an intuitive method, and although yes I had tendancy to lean back more than I should of, I was a lot better than the guys who were swimming. The bomb proof roll gave me gre...

If I remember right that video clip is taken when they were looking for a French guy, Philippe de Dieuleveult who died trying to raft the rapids. There are currently big problems over in Matadi (near Inga where the clip is taken) with the BDK (Bundu dia Kongo).
