Re: River running Usk in composite boat

Awesome to hear of a Sith still being paddled in the UK! Having known and paddled with the designers of the Sith (Gwyn and Martin) I know they are pretty sturdy for composite boats. Gwyn took his down the Upper Dart and many other Grade 4 UK rivers at a normal just on the ledge level and it was fine!

Re: Which boat for the soca?

I'll try and dig out some more details but Google translate on the following was where I found my info originally https://4-paddlers.com/gewaesser/abschnitt/Sava_bohinjka/Soteska_Bohinjska_Bela-1001501.html It's a great resource for a lot of paddling in Europe if you can cope with German. Re: Recomend me annual travel insurance with kayaking and winter sports

Skiclub platinum membership includes off piste skiing/boarding without a guide and WW Kayaking - the list of sports covered on the website is confusing. But I had an email confirming that WW Kayaking up to Gr 6 is included.

Re: Which boat for the soca?

Definitely agree with the play the river description. Soca is perfect for stern squirts, pop-outs, rock splats/spins and generally playing with the river rather than sitting in a playspot. Old school playboat or a newer playful river runner will be ideal. Syphon canyon is one section for which you c...

Enigma "squirt boat". Despite being vacuum formed around your legs it was in no way any good at squirt boating.

Re: austria end of august river levels?

At a guess the Otz valley will have plenty to do especially if its hot as its all glacial. Dam releases on the Inn will also provide fun on Tosens/Inn Shoot/ Landeck Gorge. Sanna / Trisanna / Rosanna will all be too low unless its rained. If its raining then the Brandenburger Ache near Kitzbuhel mig...

But how much of the funding for Olympic / World championships comes from UK Sport and is ring fenced? I'm pretty sure the majority is funded this way, therefore these funds are not able to be spend on anything else. A more meaningful question is how much of General funds are spent on Elite sport vs ...

Waka tuna and ace of spades

So I cracked my Nomad in Austria and need a new creek boat. The tuna and ace of spades look interesting but I'd want to demo one 1st. Anyone know where/if this is possible. I appreciate the ace of spades is only just hitting production, I saw one at take out of Giarsun gorge and it looked good.

Re: River West Dart - Two Bridges to Dartmeet

Paddled this at great flows last weekend however another group holed 2 boats on this river. The rapid about 200m upstream of the confluence at dartmeet has the remains of an old footbridge in it. The problem seems to be on river right with metal work just below the water. Best advice at the moment a...

I have a SuperEgo, its comfy, fast and still throws down on the flat.

As already mentioned
Necky Switch / Orbit Fish, Riot Glide / Trickster / Dominatrix, Wavesport Forplay / Score, etc will all do the job.

Have fun.

Funnily enough I haven't had an issue yet with the Austrian or Swiss police despite paddling here most seasons over the 8-10 years. Maybe because I keep to the, admittedly low, speed limits... 4paddlers.com has lots of info (in German) but Google translate will help give you the gist. Upper Rhine area has lots to do look at the other runs section in WW North alps. Albula, valserrhine, medelsbach, somvixerhine and the glenner, landquart, vorderhine and hinterRhine are all in that area. Ove...

Grade 2/3 runs
Imst Gorge (River Inn)
Lech
Phunds Section (River Inn)
Rossana (needs a bit of rain later in season)
Susch section (Switzerland River Inn, Low late July.)
Worth mentioning that the Lech mentioned has 2 MUCH harder gorges upstream - great fun but not a place for 2/3 paddlers!
