Learn to dive (if you don't already*), which will briefly cool you on the hot days (hoping to wrangle a day off during a trip to Abu Dhabi in late April, so an hour down the road if you want to try this). Or, fly to the Maldives for a long weekend. Emirates fly 2 x daily to Male (which is a bit clos...

Re: Access on the Hampshire river Avon......again

Tiger, you're not alone in being on the receiving end of continuing harassment from fisheries interests on the Avon. From John Levell's "Avon Diary" blog dated 24 August: I've enjoyed an extremely pleasant weekend, considering the fact it was a hot bank holiday weekend that's quite remarkable. I hav...

Upper Kennet health warning

The upper reach of the River Kennet is rarely paddled due to access issues (and the fact that it's often too shallow at many locations). However, this sign is now posted (often accompanied by a copy of the EA statement on the recent pollution event - see http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/news/14...

Fortunately Canoe Wales haven't been so petty on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/#!/CanoeWales?fref=ts) and have left up the links to The Paddler. Perhaps CW are more confident in the quality of Ceufad than CE are about Canoe Focus.

I object to these WUF instigated signs on the River Usk (and the River Wye). I am concerned by the use of public money by the EA(W) to promote an unproven and potentially illegal assertion as to the rights of control over river navigation. I request the BBNPA to ensure that these signs are removed i...
