Wanted: Surf Boat for taller paddler

2nd hand or advice for new; I've moved to within a mile or so of a surf beach and need a boat.

Anything going 2nd hand? Or guidance on the best thing to buy new?

Ideally looking at IC or a longer HP....

Re: 'Fast' and 'slow' creek boats

Ah I'm just jesting bro. That awesome boat has served you well!!!

Always wondered how the Sales of Goods Act would work with boats breaking; or controversially should I say, being designed to break.

I only own a Topo now so I guess I'll never know :)

Woh woh woh, hold on a cotton picking (non-racist) minute!!!

Banzer, did your cheese boat break?

(otherwise, K Shark has said it; face it you might all be paddling iPhone 6's, but in terms of making a call, all we ever needed was a 3310!!!!!)

Re: The Weekend Adventurer

I’ve bitten (wrongly, but I couldn’t delete it) once today, but I like the title of this as some good friends and seriously good sportsmen were discussing the interesting journey just yesterday. Week = Uninspiring people, politics, structure, guidelines, unchallenging repetition, hypocrisy, illogica...

Re: Where did all the banter go?

Does anyone remember a lad that used to paddle a Salto and was always on hear causing trouble lol. can't for the life of me remember his name Two people I can think of offhand who fit that description... Quickdraw McCraw is a possibility, but my money is on RyanP, aka. SwamP or his previous incarna...

Yep,

Life is too happy away from rivers I'm afraid buddy.

Love to you and yours. Hope life is treating you well and you're getting to bike down plenty of waterfalls! ;)

Re: The Etive spanking a paddler at monstrous flows!!!

Jim I've seen people go Centre and deep....yes there's a rock but not the one you're speaking of. I saw Flemboy shouting at people "LAST STOKE ON THE RIGHT" and it worked for every single paddler. In fairness when I run this now I can't shake the sound of his bellowing voice and end up just doing it...

Re: The Etive spanking a paddler at monstrous flows!!!

I acknowledge your point Neil. Your diplomacy, thought process and efforts to edify the masses are all traits that follow the fact you’ve done a lot for sports simply out of the good of your heart. I, on the other hand am different! Diplomacy, process of thought prior to any articulation are things ...

Re: The Etive spanking a paddler at monstrous flows!!!

Anyone commenting on the paddlers ability is missing the point....no one came out the womb donkey flipping. But the last time I saw such nonexistent safety a girl die two days later. That rapid has a rescue point 1meter from the hole, another 2m from the hole and so on. Talent and river knowledge ha...

Re: Big waterfalls and the use of cameras

Mikeyd, Many of us get asked if we regret what we've done through the varying chapters of our one life. My answer will always be I'd do the same again, but, I'd video it!!!! In that vein I won't even pretend to suggest that Jim's mention of narcissism isn't a large part of that; but by no means the ...

Re: What River App - Eh?

I think i said this earlier but I couldn't agree more. If the app was difficult, more conplex, delivered more and took linger to make. I'd not even post a reply. If some toss pot was working on it with a view to making money..... I wouldnt reply. But even a dullard with some time on his hands could ...

Re: What River App - Eh?

DB I'm totally with you bro. But to answer the Why questions. .. Well, free, two days effort, low/no data signal in many areas in wee steep sided glens, hundreds of rivers to choose from....so, why not? Guidebook is the shiznae, of course. But this would simply be a case of having river names filter...

Re: What River App - Eh?

I can say it and I will.

I do not get data near the Orchy, Coe, Etive Valley etc etc etc.

Your suggestions were good. My two day deliverable can be the light free version. Your two month deliverable can be the chargable platinum upgrade :)

Good man, Chris!! If you need someone to take on the listing the rivers, and kayakable water conditions for river beginning with the letter Z, give me a shout :-p Seriously though, building the database will take you a wee bit of time so I’m sure if you’re gonna build this free app then some folks w...

Re: What River App - Eh?

Never seen that link before Poke but it’s not a kick in the sack off of what we were thinking of. However key difference would be in the situation of use: You’ve got less than moderate knowledge of the region. There has been some rain You’re standing at the River Coe and there’s enough water to run ...

What River App - Eh?

Who doesn’t have a smart phone? If so, ignore this post. I’m not sure if an app already exists for this (because I can’t be bothered looking for one) but I think UKRGB would be as good a place to kick it off, in conjunction with SCA/BCU/Welsh equivalent involving sheep love. Very simply, why isn’t t...

Nah man, not in a boat yet. Latest dislocation on my good shoulder did long term damage. Don’t get me wrong, with physio I’ll be able to get back to a level to do these silly race things and become one of the new age ‘nae baws, good video editors’ that steal the lime light in Scotland these days. ‘E...

15 minutes closer than Aviemore is Carrbridge. Plenty of hostels and the almost good looking owner of the Cairn Hotel is a boater.

Thanks Jim this answers everything I needed to know to just crack on. Mike I don't know of any almanac sorry. Jim has covered what I wanted to know. I won't be getting into sea kayaking in a serious way. Much like my past on rivers I'll just muck about for a day or two out the house. One observation...
