VE 30 degree straight shaft 197, more power than Zeus, can fault them. I used Wener Sidekick until I tried the VE.

Both the original and the new Nomad 8.2 are good boats that you won't go wrong with.

Small Nomad, cracking little creek boat. Remember to demo all you fancy to get the one that suite your padding style.

Re: Drysuit purchase advice
I have a Dam X which is 10 years old and still going strong after a lot of use year in year out. For base layers I use cheap thermal bottoms and tops from Matalan which were only £5 each and they keep me warm and snug whatever the weather, even in winter at temperatures down to low as -18C. I cant f...

I paid £40 for my second hand Topo Spud and it was a bargin. It's had some real hammerings down some steep rocky becks and just keeps going, result.

Rob, If you are out there and reading this the feed back is that moving it to the mobile app is a disappointment as it does not work as well as when it could be accessed via the web, well not for me anyway. It's functionality is just not the same and takes time to respond to commands on my mobile te...

You need to demo a Dagger Nomad, probably the Large which has a weight range of 77 - 120 kg. It is a fantastic kayak with plenty of volume both front and back to balance it out and stop you back flipping when running drops and holes.

Re: Lightest Large Creeker?
Well, if your 6'2" and about 86kg, have been known to put a hole in one or two kayaks and use a centre pillar as a step ladder to make a graceful exit too... then the kayak for you is a Nomad 8.6, problem solved.

DamX all the way and they are made to measure. I have had mine 11 years now and its still going strong and as good as new. This is very good as I am hard on my boats and gear.

Tim,
The Kinglas (Rest and Be Thankfull Pass to Loch Fyne) on the A83 is not to be missed if you have not paddled it, I am sure that you would like and enjoy this river.

Ran the two Lakes Trout Becks on the same cold snowy day a few years ago in high water levels. South first followed by North, smashing days paddling and a great day out.

I ran the Queyras Gorge for the first time in 2016 at a decent level. It didn't look horrendous to me, I loved it. However the fella I ran it with got a bit of a trashing in the drop in the image below and didn't quite feel the same when we got to the get out. I of course thought that it was hilarou...

SimonMW When the Dagger Nomad was originally released, that was the pinnacle of creek boat design at the time it came out. It still is for me, even though I have had the new Nomad medium since it became available. As others have said, when you find a boat that suits you and your style of paddling t...

The firts time I ran the Upper dart was in the dark as we arrived late and did not want to wait until the following morning to run it and it was so much fun. Troutbeck (South) was another one that we ran in the dark the first time we ran it, again so much fun.

Banzer,
Maze Beck to High force I take it. This looks like it would be a fun litte adventure, the kind I would be interested in doing with you. How much rain/water is needed for this to be viable to paddle or will it go if water is being released from Cow Green Reservoir?

You could try replacing the rope with rope a mm or two bigger, this worked for me in a Jackson in the past. Cheap quick and and easy solution that worked.

With ease, normally via wear and tear on the water. 3 x Nomad's to date, 1 on in the Findhorn Gorge, 1 on the Hindburn and 1 on the Roeburn. Still I was having loads of fun and as usual pushing myself outside of my confort zone in high water.

Re: Isle of Coll - Advice as holiday destination please
Andrew, Coll is beautiful but regged. The beaches on the island are all accessable but some need a walk in to them from where you park your car, not too far in my opinion, 5 or 10 minute maximum. Some need more time, particularly those at the south end of the island. As said the surf on the west coa...
