Re: Tryweryn pay and play
Brain Taylor has already pointed this out! May I offer some clarity regarding CT. It is a separate company now from CW CW will utilise profits from CT to develop paddlesport in Wales. If CW and CT are completely separate, how is this possible? I had a lot of respect for CW over either CE/BCU, but th...

Re: Kayaking without BA??
As Adrian has already mentioned there may have been a perfectly reasonable explanation for paddling the Loop without a BA. I did it once without one, a less able and less experienced friend had forgotten his and I thought it prudent on his first paddle of the loop that he had one, so I handed over m...

Buy a good quality Tarp, so much more versatile than a tent, smaller and cheaper too!

Out of the fire into the frying pan?
A friend was asking if anyone knows of an alternative to our overseers! (Not you Mark but the BCU) I suggested he look at this group,
http://theworldsoutdoorcommunity.com/
Has anyone here signed up or had experience dealing with them? Do you believe they could be a viable alternative?

When I was learning!!!(I still am) I swam lots, after when still pushing myself on the higher grades, I swam lots. It's been a few years since my last forced swim but it's also been a few years since I pushed my limits.

A huge thumbs up for the River Wye Canoe Hire and Mark Simons ( http://www.riverwyecanoehire.com ). We have just finished a three day exped down the Wye using Mark's kit. Not only did Mark give us a great deal but also gave valuable info and tips on how we could get the most out of our trip. I would...

Wild Swimming on C4
Wild swimming was featured heavily on Channel 4's Rivercottage programme this evening. HFW swam 3k in the Stour and then cooked for some wild swimmers who did the Dart 10k wild swim. It should be on catch up soon, if you missed it.

Hi all, Thanks for the advice. We all arrived back safely, although a little wetter than when we left, on Friday evening. It persistently rained throughout our visit but the kids behaved themselves (mostly)! We went on the Falls walk on Tuesday and Wednesday with a small group of kids on each day. I...

Your idea about the kids who misbehave sounds like a good plan, not sure the LEA or parents would approve though. ;-)

Hi all, On Monday I'm taking my school kids to the Gower for the week, while I'm down that way I thought I might do a couple of recce's (Walking this time)of the rivers and falls in the Neath Valley. When I spoke with Herr Dr, he implied that he owned the land downstream of the Tarr Steps. Can anyone confirm or deny this?Fenris wrote:Dr Zellweger is a riparian owner on the Withypool to Tarr Steps section of the Barle.

Re: River Barle Re-opened
I actually have no idea which party has sent this to me - someone called U. Zellweger? Dr Zellweger is the (relatively) new land owner who has objected to paddlers using his river! I exchanged details with him last year but didn't hear anything from him. If you google him lots of info (none relevan...

Re: In case you missed CE's announcement: Access FAQ
some clubs, LWA or RWA may negotiate local agreements which are neither endorsed or reviewed by HQ, so, for example, a motion to prevent the BCU entering into non-365 agreements may fall down if they are negotiated by a BCU affilliated club. eg River Axe. You cannot impose a restriction on the BCU ...

Re: In case you missed CE's announcement: Access FAQ
With the up to date figure of 684 people (Hopefully voting members of CE?) willing to call for an EGM, and even with CE/BCU unwilling to give a accurate figure of voting members, that is certainly more than the required 1%?
So, what next?

Pete Thorn, given your BCU/CE SW position, can you confirm whether you or others from BCU/CE are negotiating an access agreement for the river Dart? Sorry, I had meant to fully answer the original question in my last post but see I had not specifically referred to the Dart. In response to instructi...

You are here: Home Community Forums Inland Is it me, or is the forum messed up? Probably font size 6 or lower.

Re: UKCC coaches Vs old style BCU coaches
there seems to be some friction bewtween new and old style coaches A sweeping opening statement! Which a partially agree with. In my experience, there is resistance from some "old school" coaches to the ideas being introduced by (mainly) young bloods, but not all of us. I have always tried to keep ...
