Re: Old Etrex

I guess the original EasyGPS software is somewhere on an old machine long ago sent to the tip!

I'm toying with the idea of taking Garmin up on their offer of a 30% trade in, although with how little I've used my old one do I really need to bother? questions, questions!!!

Re: Old Etrex

Okay, I've tried Memory Map, also Garmin MapSource and the Garmin Chat line, no luck, PC just reports not found or not recognised when trying to synchronising.

Anybody got any other ideas before I take Up Garmin's offer of a 30% trade in against a new one?

Old Etrex

I have dug out my old basic yellow etrex from the late 90's I think, the one with the 4 pin connector rather than the mini usb that I believe is fitted to later models. I have the usb version of the cable to connect it to my PC and used to use EasyGPS to synchronise waypoints/tracks etc. It seems th...

Re: WANTED K2 Racing Kayak

That is part of our plan, they do Saturday morning sessions that could fit in quite nicely, evenings would not be so easy, so they are going to need something to use locally

Re: WANTED K2 Racing Kayak

Hi Martin, long time since we conversed! Thanks for the tip but that is a little steep at the moment. My girls have found out about the DW and fancy the challenge but have never sat in a racing boat so we are looking for something reasonably priced for them to have a go in at this stage, if all goes...

Lots of very good stuff here, I am about to replace an 80s era Icom and thought I had decided on the SH HX500E, but there is no mention of them at all in this discussion, have I missed something obvious? No, it's a perfectly good unit and more compact than the others mentioned, but most folk seem t...

Re: Advice on paddling with youngsters

One thing I will say is to be sure who you are doing it for! At about 8 months old this one has to have been for me, although I guess they could boast later in life that the first time they went out in a boat they were less than a year old! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5263718958_4a1463a3eb.j...

Re: Kids paddles

It is a big boat, it was just a bit of fun in a sheltered bay when it was too windy for us as a family to leave shelter, that boat belongs to our club and is obviously set up in a way to maximise the number of different 'builds' that can paddle it. There was no way the girls could use the rudder and...

Re: Cheapish easy to use DSLR

So, if you must (and presuming you know enough about photography to make one worthwhile), deffo go Canon or Nikon for SLR. Personally I'm a Canon fan. I did make the mistake of buying a Pentax 35mm SLR many years ago. Oops. And as many a photographer says - the best camera is the one you have on yo...

Re: Foot Pump Outlet Plugging

Hello, due to lack of space because of my big feet I have had to remove the foot-pump Have you considered moving the pump to under your thighs? I saw this done by a lot of sea kayakers in Germany, and tried it myself. It works! The pump sits on the bottom of the boat about 6" forward of your seat, ...
