Re: Is vhf course needed

I think maybe the rule of not divulging information obtained when listening on other people’s transmissions has been mixed up a bit here. I’m not aware of any rule about not using a name in a transmission. In general with radio communication you use your call sign or the name of your boat/radio sta...

Being cursed with long legs my shins and knees certainly do not miss the ocean cockpit.
Can imagine that, a friend was almost 2m and had at that time a Nordkapp with a race cockpit, the smallest there was..he survived...!

Yes, I do, after over 25 years in an ocean cockpit, I had -always almost dry; -chart in front of me and readable; -minimum damage in case of rescue- exercises; - no issues during roling.. Re: Fitting a hatch: sika primer ?

I’m considering fitting a bigger oval hatch to the back deck of my Anas Acuta ..but the instructions for the hatch say to use sikaflex adhesive after first having used a sika primer. The primer is £30 for a small bottle ! Is it really necessary? It greatly adds to the cost of a hatch ! The primer m...

Would guess if you want to spent a minimum of time, you want to be rather sure (in some way) the whether allows you to paddle... The coast of Norway has then some challenges.... Stockholm would be an option for sure. Nice area, no fjords or tide waves however., lot of islands to camp on. Good luck! JB

Something to bear in mind when you start thinking about life jackets is where as a 50N buoyancy aid has you pulling down against BA with 5kg of force with a 150N jacket if it increased to 15kg. That sort of force could easily be enough to have the life jacket ride up making it very difficult to do ...

On the way back we used the Bridge of Doom from Sweden to Copenhagen. So called because of how it feels when you're two hundred feet up in the sky for miles, in a gale, with 2 large canoes on the roof of the van, and the drivers knuckles turning white as he gripped the wheel to counteract the gusts...

I always carry (composite) paddles in the car.
Not sure if my concern is realistic or just paranoia but I don't like the idea of the blades vibrating in the wind and working the glue loose.
+1
First clean them, remove salt residue, than in the car/van.
