Re: What is better J bars or v bars

From a strength perspective I prefer the J-bar. However, it depends also what car/ van you have and your own length: -On a normal car you still can use the J bars rather easily, as long as you can lift the kayak high enough. -On a bus I need some support to lift the kayak enough over the lower part ...

Re: P and H Kayak Water Leak

For searching/ finding a leak, I used hot water and added some dish soap.
Shake the boat, the warm water will heat the air in the compartment, moist/ water and foam will be pushed out through the leak....
Worked for the smallest cracks.

Good luck,

Maybe commercial vessels in distress?

Besides the risks flares have, as mentioned and showed above, find in the enclosed url a table showing in what way and how often the Dutch KNRM, sister of the RNLI, has been warned. 2018 figures, just scroll down to find the table. If the wear in the compartments is mould-like ( blackisch), hot water with soap and some bleach might help. leave it for some timen and rinse with clear water. The wear in the cockpit , could that be where the heals of your feet are located? clear with sandpaper ( grain 400 e.g.) clean/ remove all g...

Why not drill a hole the same size in exactly the same place on the other side & just put a nut & bolt through with a fibre washer to seal so they look
as if originally there.

+1
Nobody will notice that..

With regard to staying safe in the great outdoors. Just carry gloves and sanitiser when you go out. If you need to open gates sanitise straight after. Part of my job involves waste disposal. Its bad enough anytime of the year picking up whats been tipped but even worse at this moment in time. Still...

Re: The ocean cockpit...

As you get older the ocean cockpit keeps giving. Getting in you can sit down on the rear deck in shallow water and, having to shaken the water off your feet, slide in. So much easier than sitting right down low into a keyhole and then trying to fold your stiff legs in. Getting out, having slid neat...

Try finding this book - it's a great set of exercises, that you can adapt to what space you have:

May I suggest, more in line with McGruffs mental training-approach to use in that case :
