Re: Rockies guidebook

There is a good second hand book shop in Canmore on the main street, you might be lucky. Also a second hand gear shop, down one of the back streets, might have it. You could look in MEC Calgary.

When you off out there?

Her short list of reasons (before I tuned her out and drifted off, thinking about paddling) was: You are anti-social people who rejoice when it's pouring down. Wearing kayaking kit is possibl...

Re: All round boats with a leaning to surf?

mmm My top 3 older boats types for ocean surfing... Necky Gliss / Bliss /Rip / Jive / Zip etc (Though the Zip is so wide and flat and without fins if you sneeze it does 720's) Pyranha I3 Riot Dominatrix /Prankster/Trikster etc (Though their very narrow tail and lack of bow rocker can invoke take of...

Re: All round boats with a leaning to surf?

The long haired general tolerates my collection as it fits in the garage one more it will spill into the house... Not good in her eyes lol "Yes darling, I promise I'll sell an old boat once I've bought this one" is a well used phrase in our house. Hence boats in the garage, garden and shed, and a s...

All round boats with a leaning to surf?

Hi all, after some feed back on boats that do it all run rivers, play but specifically surf well. I have a creek boat and a CR250. I use it for play and surf but think my old Necky was better at the surf. I don't want to buy a dedicated surf boat. The long haired general tolerates my collection as i...

Re: Dartmeet kayak launch

Just my tupence. Why not have the put in on the upstream side of the bridge?

Avoiding the need to cross the road.
Also there is a path already there less work to do hence cheaper.

Not brilliant in low level as getting to the right side into flow is a bit of a pinball session.

Loved the bit about "Swimming pools for swimmers - Lakes and rivers for anglers, canoeists, swans and ducks!"
Where did we swim before swimming pools???

Re: Cold hands

I've got some palm pogies, but I really dont like the long 'sleeve' to get into it, as I've had a couple of times when I lost a little bit of grip on the shaft, and ended up not being able to get my hand back in and gripping the paddle properly. Bit of a problem in the middle of a rapid! Normally I...
