The 2nd drop was run, without injury, by James Clements back in 1997 paddling a EuroKayaks Cyphur (complete with ladder footrests!). That was a spate run never to be forgotten!
Trees are always a serious hazard on the NF, and if its raining be warned, the river can rise seriously fast.

To be fair Matt you've not been trying very hard now have you. Try phoning, or emailing, or PMing me here. If those don't work go outside and shout loudly...

So what is the Welsh word for canoeing/kayaking? geufadwyr ? cymdeithas ? canwio ? That last one's just lazy, like bws and bysiau , use your own words...you wouldn't find the English language borrowing like that. This just feeds into my English prejudice that the Welsh language is completely made u...

Kayaking is Not a Crime photo competition

To celebrate the WCA aligning the CT charging policy with their own access policy I thought I'd run a competition. I've got a Kayaking is Not a Crime t-shirt* and stickers to give away (and probably one or two other paddling goodies I have lying about too). To enter, simply post your best photo of a...

Thanks to all who wrote to the WCA regarding this issue too. This is a bold move by the WCA, but very much the right move. Well done to al...

If you like the H2 you will love the H3, and if you love the H3 you will adore the Burn. Its boat evolution at its best.

best one at Whitewater the Canoe Centre has to be Rick Asley! Legend! I once got into a party that Rick Astley was turned away from. The bouncer even used the immortal line 'if you names not down, you're not coming in'. On a more canoeing related note, I once showed Steve Cram how to do up his buoy...

Can anyone recall the model of Lancia I turned up at l'Agentiere last year. If a Burn fits in that I'm pretty sure it would fit into anything. Admittedly I had to mess with the seats a little, and leave my dignity at home, but it fitted!

For the BCU or WCA to make any kind of comment on this incident based on internet and media reports would be very unwise. Remember. at this point we only have one side of the story as presented by one of the parties involved. I wouldn't expect to hear from either NGB until such a time as Nigel is ac...

I think that there was only one death in the Guisane rafting incident, although another person was seriously injured. The report also talks about a second fatal incident, but this was involving JetSkis in the Ardeche.

Cat_astrophie You are, of course, right, there is no mention of access in that list. Unfortunately this sentence, taken from the same CT web page, suggests otherwise; "Spot checks are...

Not knowing all the facts this is shocking but I can't help but wonder if it might turn out to be the best thing for the rivers access situation in England. The police can only retain details of your DNA if you are actually convicted, so I would suspect that you'll be free to do that bank job after all as I would be amazed if this actually goes to court. Not an expert but as far as I know if the police take a DNA sample they keep it regardless of the c...
