Re: Nose diving

Yep, leaning back pushes your feet down, leaning forwards (especially with a bit of aggression) pulls them up momentarily which can be just enough to get you on the plane. Also putting a little bit of angle /knee lift on take off helps I found in my butt bouncing days Sent from my SM-G960F using Tap...

Re: Perception Blaze an good for surfing

Great choice! You'll love it (and it'll hopefully lead you to a "real" surf boat eventually... Then you will fly!)

Opinions on NRS Ninka Mk3

Hey all,

I'm looking at this as I want a PDF that sits nice and low on the body....also like the low profile cut.

Your thoughts or suggestions - this will be specifically for surfing only.

You live and learn. I thought the PE suffix always indicated a plastic version of a Mega boat :)

The excellent Surf Kayak Skills website will answer this better than I and is a superb resource for surf kayaking technique

Surf Kayak Skills - Fins

I really recommend it....taught me a lot and made me realise the mistakes I was making (when I thought I was doing fine!)

Re: Best paddle for surfing

220 is more of a sea/touring paddle length so no wonder you found it a handful in the surf. Personally I'd say go a little shorter than 200 (say 194-197) unless you're over 6 foot. This blade length will also be better for whitewater/general use in the Axiom. And, unless you're a beast, I'd advise a...

Re: Surf kayak do I need one

Hey kayak1 If your phantom hull was flexing I'd guess it was actually a superlight as you get no flex on an Xtech hull (I've had 3 xtech boats) There are many great composite boats out there that are user friendly... Banshee, Bullitt S and others that work well in all conditions and are easy to padd...

Pete and co get trade ins all the time. Worth giving them a bell....gotta spectulate to accumulate!

For the money you're looking to spend private sale would be better - for that money you could get a decent Bullitt S or similar. They're easy to roll, comfortable, quick and great fun

Re: WANTED: Composite Fluid Element

I'm sure it was and, like full on surf boats, the market won't support the price people want for them! For your reference, I looked and they are seeling in South Africa for around £500, which is a fair price for the boat https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-kayaks-paddle-boats/milnerton/fluid-element-composi...

Re: Paddler weight range

You'd comfortably fit (and float) a Bullitt S (and XS but I'd go for the S personally). The S is a superb surf machine good in all conditions, easy to paddle out, very easy to roll with great performance. The newer Banshee is also getting great feedback if you're looking for a new boat. Sure there a...

Bass Rock visit

Just a wee video of my most enjoable sea paddle to date; out to the unimaginably stunning Gannet colony on the volcanic plug of the Bass Rock. It really has to be seen to be believed and makes a nice paddle when combined with a trip around the North Berwick islands. Hope you enjoy :) https://vimeo.c...
