Re: Can you tell what it is yet?
Thanks again for all the kind words. I've enjoyed th whole process and the sharing. Talking of sharing, do you folks think I should write an article for one of the printed publications? If so which one? I'm a little out of touch these days with writing for print - I used to be a regular many years a...

Re: Pulleys
Realistically you would need to put at least 3 people on a 3:1 system before you got anywhere near 5kn force on the pulleys. The other thing to look at is whether its 5kn on each side (10kn total) or 5kn on the oulley in general. The petzl ones normally have this stamped on them. I would be happy t...

Im gunna disagree with a couple of you here; Yes bootie beers could be used to humiliate and bully people. However, in my experience in both personal and student trip worlds this has never been the case. its just a bit of fun, a bit of banter and a recognition of occasional error, normally instigat...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?
Thanks Jim. The first outing was with the boat being about 1/3 to a 1/2 loaded and what I quickly discovered is that weight is my friend. It bucks and kicks like crazy! Two Rapids at least would have been rather interesting unloaded! Even with what I had in there, the response and speed is phenomena...

Dories are definitely way more sporty and can be less forgiving for sure, but there is something appealing about their looks and the fact its hand made from wood etc. So close to the water for the first time now! https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10653297_58975220114712...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?
Possibly a trip on the Thompson or Fraser as they still have plenty of water. Depends on how cold it is in a couple of weeks when I get a chance! If not, in the spring and next summer with plenty of options to enjoy some overnight trips / adventures prior to my Grand Canyon trip in October 2015, whe...

Point 4 The Iskut flows in not only below the Grand Canyon of the Stikine but also below Telegraph Creek so when you run it you have to paddle out to Wrangel in Alaska and get the ferry down the coast to Prince George and back to the road system - an elaborate shuttle unless you have a driver to ta...

As I have said before, any rope under tension can be cut by almost anything with an edge including a rock / stone. A saw will go through a rope in a matter of a couple of seconds if it is taught, binding will not be an issue. If your unsure if this is true, go in the garden, take an old piece of rop...
