... and post a conclusion to the mystery that had us all on the edge of our seats all these years. Ah, but that wasn't the actual mystery that's been hanging over us for the last decade. The REAL mystery was: I'm pretty sure that Storry used the phrase more than once ...?? I *think* Mark is wrong h...

Re: Welsh Rivers Guidebook ed.2 Research
This is paraphrased, as I lost my copy of British White Water over the past few years. What a description though. Sure to get everyone nicely tensed up and negative on their way to the river! Hi Tom - I've found I've actually got two copies of 'British White Water' on my shelf, and one of them has ...

Re: River Wnion - Bridge off A494 to Bont Newydd
Large, dangerous tree completely blocking the last rapid in the gorge at yesterday's low-medium levels. Not far upstream of the disused railway bridge. Had to climb up and out river right into a layby - emphatically recommend inspecting before paddling.

You're best with Evostick Impact (red tin or tube). Don't buy the solvent free: it dissolves with water. Something like this. Make sure you apply it somewhere well ventilated!

I've used the Storm for night-time WWR training. It also has a neat red light function if you want to paddle in ambient light and not muck up your night vision.

Your link isn't working, but if it's this one then it's a Baron Machete rather than a Delphin: the Delphin didn't have the cut-off stern. Good luck selling!

Of course, there's also the paddler-run Gradient Cafe on Oak Street - good food and they'll let you put kayaking DVDs on the TV while you eat.

Re: Mile End Mill
Chalky, you've misread the listing. This plot is for the half of the mill building that used to have the bed refurbishment business (the downstream side). It has limited parking and no river access as its river frontage is a steep wall. It's been on the market for a while and has failed to sell at a...

That listing isn't for the main mill building with car park etc: it's the block next door with limited parking and no river access.

Re: Old Playboating UK magazines to give away
Damn - pipped to the post by Simon! I've already got all the issues from no 5 onwards (Shaun in yellow Kendo). I keep them safely stored in my Mylar folders, including the A5 'playboating' insert that came with CKUK before the two publications merged. I've also got a very rare yellow plastic 'Playbo...

Re: Has anyone paddled the river Deva in Northern Spain?
Yep - I paddled a Rio Deva in Galicia about 15 years ago. We ran the section down to the confluence with the Miño - and it was a really fun grade III-IV section. The last couple of kilometres had some great bedrock slides and rapids on it. If you're in the area, there's also year-round playboating o...

Something like this should do you:

It's a security head rather than something specific to Wavesport - a security bit kit like that should do the bolt heads on pretty much every boat on the market.

Not just any boats - the latest Jim Snyder designs from the US. The Slip and the Ninja are whole new machines compared to any of the older shapes that have been made in Britain. Fingers crossed they keep the Jimirim cockpit rim to keep you totally dry - if so, I can't wait to get hold of a Slip and ...

Given the hassle they used to give even if we dared to stop off at their cafe en route down river to give them money for tea and cake before going onto Town Falls, I wouldn't put it past them to inspect wrist bands of everyone! It's a different business run by different people. Nothing to do with t...

Site fees are here , and I have no problem with them now that it feels like someone's taking an active role in maintaining the site again... I see they say they have regular wristband inspections. Buck - Mile End Mill is open again and being run by Josh and his team at Llangollen Outdoors . They update levels every day on their Facebook and Twitter pages, they're paddlers themselves and they're putting a lot of effort into the site - which it sorely needs. FS: Dagger Nomad 8.5 (large) - £500
It’s time to sell my Dagger Nomad 8.5 in orange. As you can see from the pics, it hasn’t had a huge amount of use: I think I’ve only done about ten rivers since I got it! No big hits or anything like that – it’s spent most of its life tucked away safely in the shed. I’m looking for £500 for it, and ...

Re: What paddling car - update
If you can stretch the budget a bit I'd say that a Skoda Octavia estate with the 1.9 diesel engine is pretty much the perfect paddling car. It'll take a couple of playboats inside, and either four creekers or an awful lot of squirt boats on top. It's both frugal and easy to drive on those long dista...

Re: Shred-cut for my bigfoot
The Bigfoot's definitely harder to do vertical cartwheels in, but you can work your way up through the angles gradually. I spent ages working on 'the test', which is this sequence: two ends at 45 degrees two ends at 60 degrees two vertical ends two past vertical ends two vertical ends two ends at 60...

Re: What boat for beginner?
Great points from Chris - you'll sometimes hear it called 'looking for future water'. Two more things I found really useful in the long boats - both practice drills of their own rather than more things to concentrate on in your cartwheels: 1. get comfortable in both your 'stations' - your bow statio...
