Re: foot rests..

Jackson Happy Feet. You may have to dig out a gap in the centre pillar of the boat to fit them, but they are fab. Use them in my whitewater playboat and surf kayak too

Banshee handling without a fin?

Any Banshee owners able to comment on how well it handles if you don't use a fin? I'm considering a Banshee but never tried one. I like the Bullitt X and it seems to handle ok without fins, which is handy when launching off some local beaches, and not perfect surf conditions and not having to deal w...

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply! Sounds interesting, although I'm a wee bit away from Peebles. Any chance you could show me some pics of them so I can suss out if they look like they stand a chance of fitting?
Cheers, Iain

wanted: thigh grips - wavesport, jackson....

Looking for thigh grips to retrofit into my surf kayak. Anyone got any that will retrofit fairly simply to my Mega surf kayak? I like the really simple Jackson knee pad setup, but can't find any (will resort to a retro-style re-enforced karrimat if all else fails) and I also like the wavesport thigh...

Hi

Is your Mega Max still for sale?

Would I likely be ok for leg length at 6 foot 3?

Any chance of some pictures? email is iainmckendry1966@yahoo.co.uk.

Thanks harry, it's a school pool, so no lifeguards I'm aware of other than PE teachers using the pool. Already contacted other clubs who are in similar position, nae luck yet, hence the general shout. Anyone?

any lifeguards for hire?

Anyone in the Dundee area with an NPLQ that would be willing to provide cover for up to 10 canoe club pool sessions on Thursday evenings early next year for a small but rewarding fee? We'd be hugely grateful, as we're struggling to renew our NPLQ and therefore satisfy the council for the pool rental...

cags for a club

can anyone recommend good cheap cags for a club? What I think we need are basic long sleeve cags with no latex, as latex struggles with sitting in a shed through several winters and also struggles with abuse from beginners when they're a bit too keen to remove it after an adrenaline fuelled first tr...

scottish paddlefest numbers?

I pitched up for a browse at the retailers attending the scottish paddlefest (aka canoe exhibition) last weekend in Perth. Just wondering what everyone else thought about the experience. I was really surprised at the lack of people there, especially given that entry to Dewars Centre was free this ye...

Re: canoe clubs no more?

Folks, That's fabulous, thanks for the responses, that's given our core crowd a lot to think about. It's great to hear about huge clubs lots of activity etc, but to be honest, I think we're always gonna be a small outfit, and I'm particularly keen to hear about small , successful (i.e. active and ha...

Re: canoe clubs no more?

thanks twopigs, that's interesting, there are some key differences between your club and ours, namely: * we don't allow junior members, because the child protection / litigation became too hard/scary * we don't actively encourage the coaching scheme, as we've found it to be a bit lame over the years...

canoe clubs no more?

Canoe clubs, what are they for, how do they justify membership fees, how do they keep experienced paddlers interested, and what's to stop them disappearing such that people just paddle casually, organised through social media? Our local club is struggling. That's not an astounding statement as I'm s...

Re: Paisley Freight packaging

I've used Paisley Freight for kayaks several times, and they do ask for it to be wrapped, although they're generally happy with it (mostly) covered in some sort of plastic (black bags do fine). They're only really concerned that they'll get complaints if it's scraped or bashed in transit (they don't...

Re: SCA boat insurance.

I use the standard multi boat Insurance as my boats are in a garage away from the house, so it's harder to get them covered under most home contents policies. I've also just made a claim for broken paddles, very impressed as they settled in two working days based on a photo and a duplicate invoice f...
