Found out that my household insurance paid out for a stolen kayak once, needless to say they tried to refuse the claim, but the policy excluded boats, not kayaks. Also i phoned their sales dept and obtained another quote under the guise of a new customer and specifically asked about sports equipment...

Try contacting these people, www.outdoor-learning.org I may be wrong on this but I think much of the push towards regulation came from the government / HSE after the Lyme Bay incident around that time. I assume you have contacted AALA directly as well.

Watched a small snake of some kind do a perfect ferry glide accross the Mont Dauphin gorge bit of the guil last summer, it then slithered over my partners rear deck and into the trees, i didnt tell her it was there as i suspect it may have caused a swim / panic / swearing ...... delete as required !

As you are not 3 star they will require you to undertake an in house assessment, they will watch you to see if you can ferry glide, eddy in / out, generally be safe. The river is tidal ? thought that there were no issues with access on tidal waters, but if you are crossing his land without permission or on a public right of way you may be liable to private prosecution. That is my understanding under English law, how does that relate to Scottish law i do not know...

Seems right, I have a VW caravelle, 1996cc petrol, tax is £170 for the year or £93 for 6 months, its all to do with the engine size i think, my old mini's tax was peanuts compared to this !
