Re: Dagger Exodus

The Exodus if I remember correctly has a very big cockpit. More suitable for a prop forward 100 kg plus. There are better boats out there. Venture Easky, Scorpio, Delphin. When you start to edge, brace, roll. Being in contact with your boat through thigh hip and feet is very important. Try before yo...

Re: Good boat for surfing and short coastal days?

The Delphin is good, you will enjoy it. That's what I use. But if you can get a Romany surf, composite or otherwise. It is probably the best surf / alrounder. Acknowledged by many.

Re: riot fins

I used to own a riot flair. There are 3 sets. Small rubber, 1 inch plastic, and 2 inch plastic. You normally use one set, put forward or back, according to how you want a to turn. If you use all 4 slots, it's a bit too much. For normal play work, no fins. In the river only use the rubber ones. They ...

Re: Which VHF radio

I had the M71 which lasted 10 yrs of very regular exposure. Always loose in my BA. No bag. I now have an M71. No issues so far. Little trick I did pick up on, it needs amost a full turn of the volume button or it does not receive. With my old M71 it was click then quarter turn. Correction Now have a...

Re: Wheels?

Ah just read your other post. Dragging a good boat down a beach. Apart from a fellow surfer helping which has got to be the no 1 solution and safety in the water. A canvas drag bag over the end of the kayak attached to the other end. Roll up and store when surfing.

When I had a similar problem. Transporting a river boat. I cut down a cheap skate board it was only 15 cms. Strapped it to the end then stored it in a plastic bag in the boat when surfing. £4.

Liquid latex is a good repairs .Online is cheaper. It will extend the life for a season. But replacenent is inevitable. It takes white spirit and elbow grease to get the black grunge off.

Wheels? Avoids a direct lift. Roller on the roof rack, pulley in the garage. Back intact, boat looking good.

Re: Delphin Spraydeck?

Lomo BIGDECK works for me. Used it a lot on another boat for 6 yrs, now on my Delphin. Composite boats tend to eat spray decks, but Rotomould cockpit rims are more rounded and forgiving. The cheaper one is about £30 the better one £40. The recommended deck size is R4 on the P&H website. Which ever y...

Re: Riot Brittany RM 15'9" - good or bad?

http://www.paddling.net/Reviews/showReviews.html?prod=2634 If you are getting it for a good price and it suits you, all good. But it's not a main stream or common sea kayak, so if you buy it, you may not get your money back if you can resell. The rudder can be equally good for a novice or a blooming...

Re: Which sea kayak for my needs? Old or New models??

My experience has been different. I like riding the surges as they go over gullies and the like. Maneuvering around rocks and reversing out. Just when you think you are invincible, you get clobbered. Lucky to get out with both elbows, the boat always takes a bash. Good luck with a composite.

Re: Wanted Valley Storm

The local club is Plymouth based. There is a Valley Rush composite for sale on this site near you. If you check this site, the general consensus is go for a composite. It's getting the fit right that is often the problem. Get along side some other paddlers, it will make life easier.

Thanks for posting this. It's made me look around myself. Short distance paddles with more fun appeals. There is one other kayak that might suit. The P&h hammer, although the are very heavy 60 lbs in old money. I still use a Rockhopper 340. I have modified the seating that would impress a play boate...
