Re: BCU Rebranded - British Canoeing

Why is Canoe England now known as British Canoeing, when Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland still have separate setups?
Don't they know the difference between England & Britain?

Interesting point on fishing rights

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I thought this was quite interesting: http://www.inbrief.co.uk/sports-law/uk-fishing-rights.htm "The owner of the land adjoining one side of a natural river or stream owns the exclusive fishing rights (called, Riparian Rights) on her or his side of the bank...

Re: Vw beam deflectors

It would be just as illegal to use studded winter tyres on a snow free road in the UK. But, getting back to the point, you don't legally need beam deflectors, you just need not to dazzle other drivers, and a properly adjusted dipped beam won't dazzle, whatever side of the road you're on. This whole ...

Re: Vw beam deflectors

You don't need them. You'll only be breaking the law if your headlights are dazzling other drivers, same as at home. By international agreement, if your vehicle is legal in your home country, then it remains legal while visiting another country. The headlight deflector thing is just a myth, and make...

Hardly scientific. How do you know what would have happened if they were wearing a peaked helmet?
I wasn't asked for science.

And roads are funded from general taxation, not vehicle excise duty, so assuming your cyclist pays income tax, he pays for the road as much as your car driver.
But lets not digress..............

Re: Ok, so what's with all the animosity

It's all about the fishermen's perception. Fishermen on canals trying to catch gudgeon KNOW they don't own the canal, and fully expect to see boat traffic, so they just get on with it. Fishermen on rivers trying to catch salmon & trout THINK they own the river, and THINK they can restrict boat traff...

Re: Dent removal

There's a square wooden box type feature extreme river left just before you drop into the NRA wave, which is under this bridge. Your boat probably caught the corner of the box, causing a lovely crease.

Re: ZOne v. Axxiom v. Funrunner

The Fun Runner is a lovely boat, but the nearest Pyranha model to it would be the new Loki, not the z one.
The Loki is a bit more playboaty than the Fun Runner, with lower volume ends & a flatter hull.

Re: Food for trips, help

The perfect canoeing food:
No fat, no added sugar fruit cake.

1lb mixed fruit
1 mug black tea
1 egg, beaten
6oz self raising flour
1 tsp mixed spice

Soak the fruit in the tea overnight.
Add the egg, flour & spice.
Place in a 2lb loaf tin & bake for 1 hour at 180c.
