Re: Packraft advice

Thomas thanks for the advice, good to know that the packrafts handled the Allier in Summer. It was something I was concerned about as most of these Massif Central rivers can be scrapy in Summer. I have bought a Longshore self bailer which has a 840d bottom so hopefully tough enough to take some wear...

Packraft advice

I'm getting on a bit now and finding it difficult to get in and out of whitewater kayaks so considering a packraft. I did paddle an open for 20 years which are easy to get in and out of,but about 5 years ago found them too heavy to manhandle so I got back into kayaks which are half the weight. Now i...

F/S - NDK Explorer HV

Nigel Dennis Explorer HV. I bought this boat in 2007 and it has had moderate use and remains in good condition. It has its share of launching marks on the hull and marks from wear on the deck. It is fitted with a keel strip, towing cleat and compass. The compass is fitted to the hatch cover and is a...

Re: River Clyde access

Robin I am still confused. The guide book says 150m south of the junction but i could,nt find it after going down the road twice for over a mile at least on Sat. We are talking about the Y jct of the A72 and B7086(which used to be the A744 i believe) tonight I went up and down the road on google map...

Re: River Clyde access

Robin It has been quite a few years since i ran this section and I could,nt remember where the path was but it looks like houses/sheds have been built on both sides of the A72 so that even if the path/access still existed the parking is gone as well. I went down the Stoneybyres road just to see if i...

River Clyde access

Being in New Lanark for the weekend we thought we would paddle the Stoneybyres to Crossford section of the Clyde as levels were looking very good.Trying to find the path down to the river as per the SWW guide (2nd edition) proved fruitless (150m South of the jct of the A72 and A744/B7086) Looks like...

If anyone is continuing down the Leny to the car park at Callander or indeed starting a run on the Teith at the Lade Inn put in be aware that there are trees right across the river width at Sheet 57 grid 617078. It is a difficult corner to get out in a hurry and you are on the trees very quickly and...

Thanks for the continuing advice. It was the Tay Descent and paddlesports weekend up here in Perth. so i had the opportunity to try a few boats. As you say the Karnali isnt small, but I liked it and it felt very stable.I tried a Axiom but the sharp edges would probably catch me out and at my age I am n...

Re: Boat advice again

Ah well done Sickboy you never missed anything. I don,t need another boat I just thought that perhaps I could get something that was more roll friendly,ie less volume/lower at the back, but you are probably right I should persevere with rolling the Fusion. The Fusion I have is connect 30 and is a nic...
