You can do both in one trip on the Cumbrian Esk...sea and river that is. This is as far as we have got upstream so far.

Re: Do I need Wings?

Mark, Have a look at the Legend Fusion : http://legendpaddles.co.nz/paddles/ I use the Small - a good power/endurance compromise. For me, the Medium would possibly place too much strain paddling a loaded boat on longer days. Mike Webb/Rockpool imports. Also Jantex as mentioned earlier: http://www.ja...

Re: Shetland tides-Yell and Bluemull sounds

Hi Peter,

A trip to Shetland last year turned up quite a few anomalies. I am guessing that you intend on going around Yell?

I am no expert on these waters but will happily share what I learnt with you if you want to drop me an email etc.

Re: FS: Tent - North Face Tadpole (Blue)

Lucy - I couldn't give you a wind speed - but it's a stable tent - a friend weathered a gale (F7 ish for two days) while paddling in Shetland a couple of years back, in the same model - not this tent - if that helps. Note that this tent has a mesh inner - fine for 3 season use - not for winter. I ha...

For Sale: Rockpool Alaw

A rather large bill to repair the car is forcing a very reluctant sale of my Alaw. Well travelled and with plenty of scrapes, the hull is still in good condition and will be polished prior to sale. The deck is 'raspberry red' with a light dusting of alpha jewel glitter. The white eagle forward of th...

Thanks Mark - surprised you have not yet been, but I'd certainly recomend going in June / July when you do - the number of terns alone make the trip worthwhile. A hat is useful.

FS: Marmot Widi 3P - £175 (tunnel tent)

The Marmot Widi 3P is a spacious tunnel tent that pitches 'as one' - the inner being secured in the same way as the Hilleberg tunnel tents. I am including the footprint in the sale for a total of £175.00 + PP RRP - £390.00 (Currently on sale on a well known site at £343.20) Note that does not includ...

Re: launch spot North of applecross

Hi Florian, I'm not sure there is one - the easiest that I can think of is approx 500m carry down to the beach at Reaulay. And another 200m or so at low water. But given you're based in Torridon & if you were contemplating more than a day trip - you could set off from Shieldaig - the paddle out of L...
