Re: Xtremist (Shaun Baker on 4od)

No its not that one I'm afraid.

The video I'm on about just has Swallow falls and the Miners bridge and Chip shop fall on it. Shaun does it in a Prijon tank and is closely followed by Fred Wondre in a Perception Mirage!!

Re: Contact lenses and paddling

I use conacts (dailys ) for kayaking, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Have done for 10 years and never had an issue However When on fresh water or pool sessions quite often it takes ages to clear my vision whereas in the salt water I never have a problem! I've asked several opticians and none can answer!

Re: Xtremist (Shaun Baker on 4od)

I remember Shaun coming up to North Wales and pissing off the locals by bagging loads of stuff that they'd just always looked at. Swallow Falls, Town fall in Betws Traws Gorge, Llanberis waterfalls. He set the standard. He was really good at selling himself and even produced a 'brochure' as his CV. ...

Re: Kayak without channels (chines)

[quote=Rae1 post_id=813048 time=1538579679 user_id=75055] I have just the same problem. Any rails, and I'm being tipped over just a bit more than I expected. The Axiom I took out last night caught me a few times, so much so that I'm on the lookout for a displacement hulled low volume boat. A Dagger ...

Kayak without channels (chines)

Having come back to kayaking after a 20 year layoff I've tried a couple of boats (Dagger Mamba, Diesel 75, Burn) and seem to struggle with them all when playing in stoppers. I used to quite happily sit upright and balance OK to the point where I would happily throw my paddle away!! However, all thes...

In the 80's a few of us turned up at the major rapid. After some umming and arring we saw a sheep fall in, tumble down the whole section and get out at the bottom. The rest is history!

Re: Well Done Canoe Wales!

I seem to remember there was an access road that was owned (and may still be) by Welsh Water I think it was at the time. The same road is the access to the river top and may be part of a lease they have with canoe wales. I also remember a footpath. We bumped into many a workman and never got questio...

Re: Well Done Canoe Wales!

Dead simple: Forget the charges, forget the changing room, cafe shuttle bus and all that bullshit. Let's go back to how it used to be before it was managed. ie FREE! I used to carry my boat, just as I carried it up stacks of other Welsh rivers. Of course it won't go back as they are making a shitloa...

Mamba vs Burn

Probably been discussed before but looking for a good river/creek boat and probably narrowed down to one of these. I'm about 90kgs with kit. Medium Burn or 8.1 Mamba?
Any info would be worthwhile please.

River Dee : glyndyfrwdwy to horseshoe falls

Could someone tell me the access point for this section.
I've been and looked at what's supposed to be the access field and it's still not clear to me.
The field mentioned in the guide looks very private.

River Dee today...what a joke!

Today I happened to pass the Dee at Chain bridge and to my amazement there was what seemed to me to be a large group of kayakers geared up standing at Serpents Tail. I assume they where running the river? Can someone please explain what this group are doing on the river? The river is about as low as...

He asked for payment for use of 'his' river. We of course refused at which point he said 'Your own association char...
