Re: Gym Work For Kayaking

Yoga...it can be unbelievably powerful and 'flexible is the new strong'. It'll develop core strength like you wouldn't believe and keep you healthy with the stressy lower back movements associated with paddling. I am utterly hooked to practising in a heated room and this hits cardio too. Seriously, ...

Re: Pondering New Zealand...

Hi, I lived in the Nelson area for a year and a bit and the climate is outstanding. I would recommend the top of the South Island as a place to live if you want to go slow and have three national parks within spitting distance. Murchison is 1 hour away tops and there are some local rivers up to grad...

For Sale Pristine SnapDragon EXP Armortex deck

Used less than 10 times in NZ on a new Mamba, doesn't fit my UK Burn so need to sell. As far as I can see RRP in UK for this model (with implosion bar) is £150' it's a bargain at £80.

Small waistube, large deck size.

Can post, I live in Cardiff if you're close, could meet at CIWW?

Cheers

Hey check out the link below. PM me if you're interested as the deck is now in the UK but I'm still in NZ.

BARGAIN SnapDragon EXP Reinforced deck with Implosion Bar FS

Hi All Bought this deck in NZ and used it over the course of this year. It is in pristine condition, pretty much brand new as I only managed to paddle for a couple of weeks due to a shoulder injury on the Lower Matakitaki. Brand new it's 130 pounds, yours for 70. I return to UK on July 9th so it'll ...

Re: New Zealand in May

Hi Banzer To be honest I've really struggled to find paddling mates in Nelson. If you're mate Andrew would be keen to get out could you message me his email? I leave for a return to Wales in 12 weeks so a few more rivers would be awesome. I've only paddled over in Murch so far...pretty desperate to...

Re: New Zealand in May

Just an update from Gwynfor...I live about an hour and a half from Murchison in Nelson and there's been a couple of significant storms in the last few weeks. Autumn is well underway but we need more rain to get the rivers up to shape off the main Buller flows (Matakitaki, Mangles etc etc) Most of th...

Re: Burn Seat Position

I did but I am quite light for my medium Burn. Moving the seat was the easiest way for me to engage the front rails with maintaining a upright, slightly forward body position. I'm always amazed how a small seat adjustment changes the feel of the boat so I would just paddle with it in a few positions...

Re: [CK] Anyone tried Sex Wax on a cockpit coaming?

Sex wax works. I brought a stack from UK to home here in NZ and it has been used on white water boats and most recently to get a slippy deck to stick in the middle of an Abel Tasman three days.

Re: Where Would You Go?

Having lived in NZ for a few months now I would have to disagree with the comment about the best rivers are solid grade 5. The Buller region (and I quote the guidebook) isn't the hardest, longest, steepest or the biggest but has the highest concentration of runs for many levels. The Nelson Buller re...

Getting all NZ

Hey I'm off to teach (surf, boat, mountain bike, eat seafood, drink wine) in NZ for a year or two and due to astronomical shipping costs have decided not to ship my beloved medium Burn across. I'm going to go native and buy a Mystic when I arrive in July. Any experience as to how it will feel compar...

Not a penny to North Wales? What about all that tax and wealth that said heavy industry made for the nation's treasury? Are we just forgetting that? I understand that North Wales gains a lot from Liverpool industry and hospitals but a small Welsh speaking community was bullied out of existance in t...

I'm sure we can live with 2 people and a dog getting displaced when considering the 3 gorges dam! I refer the 'honourable' gentlmeman to my previous response given a good while ago in another thread. I think I did offer more on the subject but just in case anyone's interested. Liverpool council lit...

Rip Curl 3/2 Core wetsuit FS

Great suit, 3/2, sealed and thermally lined chest. Used but still fully functional. Small size (I'm 5.9 and slight, fits well). I've used it in the Winter and it's been OK but it's a great Summer suit. £45 if collected, £50 if posting required to UK.

Thanks guys, I'll check out these options.

Dave, while I'm well exited, I fly the day after I finish teaching in the UK and start teaching there 4 days after I land...no Summer holiday in 2012. It's like having a real job!

Shipping gear to NZ help

Good Morning All

I'm moving to NZ in July to teach for a couple of years and would like to ship outdoor gear and some books and the like out with me.

Anyone used any particularly good companies?

Thanks in advance

Re: Big Dog Force and Riot Thunder

I can vouch for the Thunder...I'm guessing you mean the 65 version. Really snappy river runner although it lacked some length at times. It does have the best backrest system I have ever tried in a boat...really supportive. Have you thought about the Diesel 70? Smaller than a medium Burn but paddles ...

Hey dude.

As much as I would love to sell it to you, you wouldn't come close to fitting in it. I'm 5.10 with short legs and only just fit in it.

Oh well, hope you find something.
