Good section. A little slow in low water however, so allow extra time if this is the case.

Branded straps are always a reliable purchase. I picked up some cheapies from the range and the difference in quality was extraordinary. I wasnt wanting them for boating at least!

Re: Van Insurance
As you've probably found out by now, there is no cheapest company, as it is dependant on where you live, occupation, mileage etc. I use direct line and pay a little under £400 a year fully comp 06 Kangoo. But my mileage is low which helps. 28 old. Vans have a bad reputation for being overloaded, dri...

Re: Mile End Mill?
Last year I smashed a load of cement bonded asbestos sheets into small bits so that they could be double bagged and dumped at the HWRC. The asbestos fibres are largely contained within the cement bond, so therefore really, the risk is minimal UNLESS the frequency of exposure is often. The really dan...

Re: "Kayaks scare fish"
When paddling on the Wye a couple of summers back I got the fright of my life when a bloomin large fish jumped right beside my kayak. The fisherman, who I hadn't noticed owing to his camaflouge, was in hysterics after observing my reaction!

Conwy Canoe Access Egress Signage North Wales
I drove past the Rhydlanfair Bridge egress from the Conwy and at the next layby down toward Betws I saw a Canu Allan/Canoe Exit sign.
Was I seeing things? Has the access dispute on this section finally been resolved? Woo hoo if it has!

Keep an emergency chocolate bar in your BA (preferably one you do not like so you don't eat it). It can come in handy as an emergency ration for a paddler in shock. Paddled at HPP once and have no intention to do so again which is a shame as the course is really rather good. Hopefully the new leaseholders of the site will introduce some technology to improve the water quality. Then perhaps I will return.

Re: Grizedale Beck a bit of carnage and rescue
Chris (swimmer) had been a little sick in his helmet and clearly had sore ribs, Simply put I wasn't convinced he could hold a rope or a paddle whilst penduling to the side. As it happens chris managed to jump most of the way across making it look a bit dramatic. If he had of gone for the rescue and...

Thanks

Re: bredwardine to hereford paddle
I used Bredwardine Bridge as a get out and encountered no issues. Apparently the canoe tour companies use this spot as one of their usual get outs so you shouldn't experience any problems. There is a large (free) parking area just east of the river approximately 150 yards further up the road.

Hmmm a national police consensus (in Wales at least) would certainly throw a rather large spanner into the works of certain interest parties. Re: kayak locks for car or something
I'd say to think of a solution that is unique to your boat and situation. For example I use a motor-cycle chain that fits through both of the broach loops on my Pyranha H:3, which is then secured to a metal loop, which is set into a bucket of concrete (bucket weight c.35kgs). Obviously this isn't su...

Firstly I would gather evidence whilst the picture is still live on the sight. Taking a Print Screen or saving the webpage as a PDF would be a good start. If they catch wind of this on here the picture may vanish!
As for the legal aspect... Sorry I haven't a clue!

So basically there will be little change on the ground? The 'map' will just show where no access agreement exists which means very little as most paddlers have given up on access agreements.

The WCA could create a "We Welcome Canoeists" poster for small businesses to display in their windows. A record of those businesses who welcome canoeists could then be accessed and wholeheartedly supported by the community. If many businesses were to come on board then the Llangollen community may w...

Cheers for the feedback Kev. I am very upset at leaving North Wales but it is required in the pursuit of employment. I cannot remain a soap dodging student! Thanks also for letting me know about the Nene centre. I hadn't realised that it was as close as it is. Fortunately it looks like both Nene and...
