Re: Lee Valley - assessments

Glad I did mine last year. Would have been a total waste of time to spend a day on the legacy course. .. Not being funny but the legacy course is a little tame for my liking, and the Olympic course is the reason for going. . I'd agree that for most paddlers who were there that day were there for the...

Re: Mi Designs AC 380 - any info?

I Had one as my first boat many man years ago.. Bought mine in 1991 I think. It was pretty much a cheaper competitor to the dancer. Mine was great as a learner boat for flatwater. But for rivers it had an annoying habit of finding gaps less than 3.8meters wide to get pinned across. Cant remember any...

North Wales Snow conditions

Does anyone know what the snow conditions are like in North Wales for the the weekend... Looking too low for boating, so want to do some snow sports... Anyone got any good suggestions for off piste sledging or Snowboarding. My previous attempt was Moel Siabod down to Plas Y Brenin, which was great, ...

Re: VW T5 roofrack

Agree with the previous comments. I went for the maximum width Thule bars recommended, and they are really short, stuggle to get 4 creek boats on with Uprights... Will probably get the wider bars and elongate the slots... The bars themselves are pretty cheap. The feet are the expensive bits.

Re: Germany and/or Austria??!!

Brandenburger is definitely one of my favorites in the alps. Top section is a narrow non stop low volume gorge - the KaizerklammI think... Dont want it too high for this bit. Then theres an easier section, followed buy a harder gorge , then another couple of easier sections down to the takeout. A gr...

Re: Where to go on 6-month solo holiday?

California, Oregon, Washington, BC. May onwards. You should never have a problem finding sociable US Paddlers to boat with. There is plenty of world class boating to be done, and is the place for a Road trip.. Ok you can do bits of it on a 2-3 week holiday, but it can be a bit hit or miss on particu...

Re: Astral Buoya Throw Line

I have one but rarely use it. With the front pocket stuffed with sling, knife, keys etc, I feel that there is quite a bit of bulk on the front of the BA, and that putting the throw line on would make it even more bulky up front. I prefer to use one in the boat that has a bit thicker rope on it also.
