Re: Briancon Gorge power plant incident - what would you do?
The thing that struck me is that the guy rescuing was fortunate enough to have a small throwline on him when he got out and rescued the swimmer with this. All the boats where gone at this stage. Most people carry throwlines in their boats, which would have not been available to use in this scenario....

Salamander do throw lines with a pocket on the side for the Krab to sit in. If you need it you just pull it out of the Velcro pouch. https://salamanderpaddlegear.com/catalog/canoe/throw-bags I don't know why other suppliers don't use this idea unless the design idea is protected. Even a just bag ful...

Does anybody know if the hazard posted on the Canoe Wales website is still there or has it now been removed, and if it is now safe to pass through this stretch of river.

When is a canoe a canoe ... ? Is it when you have one paddle and are kneeling on the floor, what is it when you are sitting on the seat ? Is it a solo or a tandem with two.. when you have three is it now a crew boat ? When you link them together with lashings and a spar is it a raft ? when you are g...

The session can hook up to a smartphone or IPad screen via wifi to see real time or for instant playback of what is happening. Ideal for coaching on a fixed site or you can water proof your smartphone. I also drop the SD card straight into my laptop which is good as it means you can access and copy ...

If you are ever near Maldon in Essex take a trip to the Combined Services Museum http://www.cmsm.co.uk/ They have lots of original archive material about the preparations for the raid and equipment too. We use it as our center safety net on a big lake. Marine sets are waterproof and far more robust then other PMR alternatives

We looked at this when we where there. You want to head out towards Cape Canaveral area about 40 mins drive east of Orlando. There is a large lagoon area called the banana river there and a number of companies that run kayak safaris around the area. If your lucky you may even get to spot some manate...

Re: Denied access River lea 2017
it is a nice simple piece of water to explore that is close to London. The safety thing is being over blown. unless there is a big flood. you would see it big and brown and a couple of meters higher, good enough signs to stay well away. There really is nothing to recommend paddling the flood channel...

Re: Denied access River lea 2017
We have had problems on the piece of water for some time. You will need to follow this up up with Lee Valley Parks. The Parks employee probably wasn't that clear in his explanation, although it was half correct. You can use Horsemill stream from fishers green to Waltham Town Lock as it forms part of...

Re: VHF Radio Test Calls
Coming from services background I got used to radio discipline the need to keep channels clear for important working traffic. I usually use channel 6 or 72 (intership) within the group. We radio check on these using a group call which is faster. These channels tend to be clearer and avoid cluttering...
