Hi,

The only person who I chatted to who had lost a throw bag was in your group I think (despite chatting to him for ages I never got his name). Bad luck about the boat, fingers crossed it turns up somewhere.

Re: kayaks to Nepal New problem with gulf

Flying with kayaks is an absolute nightmare, we're off to Nepal in November with Indian airlines and decided just to hire out there as we couldn't face the stress of the 'will they wont they'. I think one of the biggest problems as well is if you have managed to get the boats into Nepal, there is no...

Swap Burn for a diesel?

Its a slim chance I know, but would anyone be keen to swap a small Burn for a Diesel 65? I paddled a small Burn out in Ecuador and just seemed to get on better with it! My Diesel is in fairly good condition, usual scrapes etc. I can send a lot more info if anyone is keen. Based in Bristol, but trave...

Re: Air India: no kayak policy - what's your experience?

Hi, How did you guys manage to get on with India airlines? We have flights booked with them this November and are just wondering whether its worth even contacting them to ask about taking kayaks or whether we should just hire out there. If they are really limited in their dimensions - do you think t...

Re: Boating in August

I would definately second getting all the damage waivers you possibly can on a car if you go to BC (ours ended up upside down off a steep slope!). The one thing I would say about BC is we did alot of driving to get between the rivers as they can be quite spread out. You would have to do your researc...

Re: Getting to the Coruh (Turkey) this June

Hi Nick,

Did you book your flights from the UK before you left? Or did you book them when you arrived in Istanbul?

I'm having a little difficulty at the moment trying to find out whether Turkish airlines will take the kayaks or not on the planes. 3 phone calls down and not really any closer.....

Re: Getting to the Coruh (Turkey) this June

Unfortunately we can't make it to the River festival as we can only go at the end of June. It looks like we might have to bite the bullet and fly to Erzurum with Turkish airlines. I have searched around, but can't seem to find any other websites (in English!) offering internal flights to Erzurum, so...

Getting to the Coruh (Turkey) this June

Hello, We are planning to go out to Yusefeli at the end of June to paddle the Coruh. We have looked into various options of getting there and getting around out there, but due to flights getting quite expensive we are now thinking about hiring a car from Istanbul and driving from there. So, has anyo...

Thanks for the advice everyone. Why is it so difficult to fly boats these days?! We're not really sure we fancy taking the risk of getting our boats to Miami and then having to leave them there. Also few companies can guarantee boat hire as it is over the Christmas period. Bit of a tricky one but wi...

There is also another get in about half-way down if you follow the track down just next to the campsite/ski lift (there is a red sign on a tree with something in Slovenian!). You come to a bridge with a very handy path straight down to the river. The river on from here was no more than a 3 (at the l...

Hiya, I have a Protec Ace Wake Helmet for sale. Size small, colour red. It also has the clippy-on ear protection bits (which are actually quite useful!) We use a thick wire cable bought from B&Q I think, and padlock it to the tow loop at the back of the car. Requires a lot more force to cut through than the normal boat lock bought from apddling shops. However I'm not sure that we would be covered by insurance using this method, as they state it need...

The Lakes at Easter with no water!

We're off to the Lakes on Thursday, but the forecast for rain isn't looking so good! We're staying in the south by Cartmel - does anybody know of things to get up to? we'll be taking boats, walking boots and possibly climbing gear. I've also heard there's lots to see on the coast round there? Any su...
