Re: Chalaux & Cure Rivers in Burgundy?

We were here in late August 2019 in the Park du Morvan. The park is fairly near to Dijon and a couple of hours drive south of Paris. So worth considering as a stop on the way to the Alps or Massif Central. We found a very pleasant, cheap and quiet lakeside campsite. 2019 was an exceptionally dry sum...

Re: Storage for a Kayak

I know the Fusion is not the smallest or lightest of kayaks, however its only 10ft long. If you live on the 4th floor then I guess there is a lift? Have you checked its dimensions? There is a fair chance that your kayak will fit in it. If so then there are all kinds of possibilities - on the landing...

Europe is a whole continent so there is obviously a huge range of options available. I suggest you take a look at the Songofthepaddle website and trawl through their blog descriptions. The south of France is deservedly popular for canoe and kayak camping trips for beginners - with a wide choice of e...

Vintage, classic Kevlar kayak for sale. This is a Katana ww kayak, 4m long - strong, fast and light. The boat is in good watertight condition and would make a great boat for recreational touring. My friend Sue Jenkins chose it to paddle the Wye last year and loved it. It was made in an expensive Ke...

Re: What river comes up quickest?

My vote would be for the Upper Derwent which drains Borrowdale and is supposedly the wettest place in England. It's usually up and down within a few hours so unless you live locally you are unlikely to get to paddle it - which is a shame as its a beautiful run. We try to time it so we are getting on...

From all accounts Peter Byrne was a fantastic character and explorer and I would love to have shared a beer with him. My view is that all "first descents" are merely labels.
