Re: Tyn Cornel Camp Site

Midges were not bad this last weekend. We had a downpour on Friday evening and then mixed clouds and hot sun, so I was expecting the midges to be out in force, but all was OK. Might have been worse on the bottom camping field next to the river (we were on the top camping field), but used the Avon "S...

Tyn Cornel Camp Site

After all the negative press this place received over the years, I have to say, what a superb camp site this is these days. We stayed there last weekend and the change since my previous visit 5/6 years ago is just stunning. The guys that now run the site are so welcoming and friendly, it feels like ...

Re: Road Access to Briancon

Just a quick update for anyone considering using this new road. We came home this way Saturday lunch time and even though all the electronic signs said road closed, it was open with only very light local traffic using it. The only issue I can see is, if the road really is closed for any reason, how ...

Re: What boats do you use?

Current fleet comprises:

Liquid Logic Stomper 90
Pyranha Sub-7 2 ball
Downtime Hellbender
Arrowcraft Nemesis

Looks like I have varied tastes, although over the years I've probably owned more Pyranhas than any other brand.

Rory,

Thanks for the reply, I'm interested in the boat, but only if it fits me. I'm hoping the model should give me a guide as I'm a little heavier than the 75kg you suggest (more like 82kg)

The advantage of these over wine bags is, if one fails, you've still got another 9 or so inflated; whereas you'd be ...

I use the large air pocket packaging that come with many mail order parcels these days (eg: CPC, RS, My Protein, etc...) Each one is about 150mm square x 50mm thick and they come as a strip. I find I get most use from a shorty with either just a merino wool base layer under for easy rivers or a micro fleece under for "wetter" rivers.
