Re: River Irwell Incident 26/09/12

Opened copy of the local free paper and saw the story, complete with smily picture of the three of you, and the positive comments from the fire service, fantastic! Times were when I would have spotted it here first, and then gone to look at what the newspapers say - but I have to admit it to myself,...

Roofbars for roof rails - for sale

£15 I think these will fit most roof rails but have been used on a Volvo V70 estate so far. The width between the fixings is adjustable to a max of 100cm (between the tops of the roof rails). The bars are 115cm in length. Max load 75kg. Lockable with 2 spare keys. Good working condition but a bit sc...

Re: Is this a bootleg pfd

Wouldn't you want to buy a BA with this description? This model provides ease of movement in the free-run and comfortable paddling Pakuandopurei. The front pocket is large with built-traps Keith. Compact design is recommended for women to get smaller and the body. I'm very worried that Keith is sti...

Howhardcanitbe - Thanks so much for posting about the experience. So glad all are ok, and thanks for the Ogwyn MR link. Hope those involved are doing ok and not too shaken up. Following the (rather seperate) signs debate with interest, and can see both sides. A sign that says: "DANGER! CONWY FALLS A...

Hiya. Really feel for all you folk flooded in Cumbria. My parents were flooded in the freak weather in Sep 2008 (Derbyshire. Same weekend as Morporth). I park at Waterhead, at the Northern end of Windermere, get a taxi to Grasmere and paddle down the Rothay back to the car. Hadn't thought of a taxi, nice one. Have used the bus though, after dropping the boat at the top, and then driving down to Waterhead. 555 Stagecoach for the Rothay. 516 for Bra...

For me: a) Comfort Then: b) Colour - For safety, not for matching purposes - I like the bright colours that will show up where I am. Not fussed about a pocket, though I see it can be handy, usually have an aquapac for that. My current cag is blue, Palm Apex, men's fit. I loved the look and colour of...

I don't really think that it's the right slogan to be waved around in Trafalgar square, although I like the idea of someone standing about on the plinth in paddling kit and a boat, that would get far more attention than just being another of the people up there with a banner and a cause. Totally ag...

Re: Peak district rivers and access

Walked that section of the Wye today, looks nice, hope to get the chance to paddle it soon.

Ponderous thought of the day: "No Canoeing" signs can be useful, because they give a good hint where the best places to get in/out are.
