Re: New Forum

Ah, I guess I was cherry picking. To be honest I didn't really want to enter into a massive argument about it, mainly wanted to express support for the default, in the hope that some other people might also. Never mind.

Re: New Forum

I'm confused. I've said stick with the standard. I've pointed out that by doing so you give users max choice. I've mentioned the philosophical argument for keeping same window, and also the practical one. Where's the contradiction? Of course designers make choices all the time. No need for patronisi...

Re: New Forum

And, I suppose, it also tells me that there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that love target="_new", those that don't, those that want the choice as an option, and those that appreciate jokes told in base 'number of alternatives available'.

Re: New Forum

Discussion about what choices "could" have been made, versus the choice that WAS made (what does THAT tell YOU?) The choice that WAS made (default in same window) gives the user the choice to do what they want. Browsers not having implemented the override for 'new window' is lamentable, but still a...

Re: New Forum

Since the 'new window' crowd has such a loud voice I think I'll make the case again. You can force 'new window' functionality by using shift, ctrl, or middle click. You cannot force the standard behaviour in any way (except with a plugin in FF, of course). This should be reason enough to keep the '...

Re: New Forum

I'm gonna dissent on the "links always open in a new window" movement. You can shift click the links to get a new window every time - there's no equivalent keypress to "not" open in a new window, which makes things annoying, at least to me.

Four of us stayed at camping indigo a couple of weeks ago for a week at Lyon. It's a brilliant place - nice campsite, big supermarket just over the motorway, plenty of dead wood around for fires (scarce medium-sized logs, though - I recommend collecting driftwood from around the weir) and only 15min...

Lost: Black peli on the Swale

After an epic-sounding day one of my paddling buddies left his black peli with white raincloud 'SUCC' sticker, containing car keys and vidcam at Lower Kisdon Force on the upper Swale. If anyone finds it can they privmsg myself or 'markthegoatboater'.

Cheers,
Steve.

Yo,

I'm fairly happy to meet up / collect depending on the distance. Green or orange would be excellent. Other colours also fine though, really.

Oh - I'm in Sheffield.

I haven't paddled it but looked at it a couple of times when I used to live over there- I'm not sure you'd want to paddle it in low water as it gets too shallow in places. Other than that the above description sounds about right. The "suggested" get on is by the swimming pool / police station - park...
