Re: Riot Magnum - Opinions?
I remember when they went back in to production a few years back. Having had the mold bought by a new distributor. So I was keen to demo the boat. And (the smaller of the 2 sizes) the boat was really nice to paddle from what I recall. One of the best boats I demo'd at the time. And I really got on w...

Contamination at the Burrs Country Park, Bury
Just seen the following on Facebook, might be worth avoiding the Burrs for anyone wishing to paddle it this weekend, seems once again that it is contaminated and potentially with something nasty Hi can you post a warning please to any dog walkers who go to burrs country park . I had to have my belov...

Re: What Paddle?
I have a set of Mitchell blades. They replaced a set of Werner Powerhouse's. I loved the Mitchell blades for more than I ever did the Werners. Better feel, better power transfer, and felt more powerful as well. Have tried a couple of VE's but they weren't for me. They were nice, but I didn't think t...

If you liked it having tried it, then you should be fine in it. While the boat plays a part, it is the paddler that makes the difference

Wakka now do a mini version of the Tuna. Can't remember its name, think its the name of a waterfall on a river.

Re: My first New Boat topic in ages!
I don't think the Bliss Stick Mystic is a million miles away in terms of hull design to the Riot Magnum, so perhaps have a look at one of those, or failing that the Wakka Tuna, ( tuna being the bigger version) Actually Waka also do a smaller version of the tuna now as well, not sure how easy they ar...

I have just seen Sweet Protection Have entered the dry suit market, and from the specs it does look like a VERY nice bit of kit, but I also suspect will be a top end price :(

This is the Facebook page of the paddle Grip Wax that I currently use, having been given it by Simon Westgarth. I have always been a fan of waxing my paddles, and this stuff has by far been the best I have ever used. Search for it on eBay and you will know doubt find it there, but as a tacky grip im...

Re: Spray Decks
Rasdex make a really cheap (£60ish inc shipping from NZ), really tough deck that would do just nicely on the jefe... I have no idea if it would fit your sea-kayak, but it probably wouldn't be the most leak proof even if it did, unfortunately. Josh is right, in that they make amazing decks that last...

I would always suggest having a look at Mitchell's. Amazingly well put together, and I have always rated them higher than my previous Werners that I used. They also seem to be a lot harder wearing than the Werners ever where. For me, I love them, and would happily buy an exact replacement should I l...

My Dagger Vengeance, first bought boat with my own money. I am not sure I would actually like to paddle it again, but I do have fond memories of it, and if did get the chance to paddle one again, hope that it was as nice as remember and I am not just looking back through rose tinted glasses !

Re: Boats you don't see much.
Must admit at one point, you couldn't NOT bump in to a Riot paddler, at the height of the Dominatrix/Trickster's popularity. Things then went a bit wrong for them, and they seemed to die a death. In the last couple of years they have tried to re launch themselves, and while some of their boats are b...

For any one wanting a gauge calibration on what is a doable level, 0.6 is what we have worked it out to be. 0.6 and up and it will run. Ran it yesterday ( had been showing 0.73 a few hours before we had been able to get on, and was a good level stepping stones covered) Low level tress always an issu...

I am on my second Rasdeck deck. Made to measure, and to fit the boat you specify, and shipped in from NZ. Newest one came in cheaper than the palm equivalent, and seems much better made and has so far been bone dry

My first paddle were a set of Gorrilla's, strong, endurable, and pretty good to use from what I remember of them. I think they would be classed as fairly heavy by some of today's standards, but other than that, a pretty good bit of kitfunk3y wrote: What's Gorrilla paddles like any good?

Re: Bigger or smaller boat?
The answer lies in outfitting and padding, if you can fit in the medium, and are comfy, adding pads and foam to make a tight fit is normal for most boats. However, at the end of the day, paddle what boat you can make perform better for you. Or try something else instead of a Burn, if neither is idea...
